vacuum line question...

I am trying to fix up an 87 MKIII I bought recently and I've noticed the vacuum lines aren't exactly... correct. The chart on the hood shows the vacuum line from the canister going to a valve of some kind on my thermostat housing, then from there to my throttle body. Whatever that valve is, it has been bypassed so the canister is hooked straight up to my throttle body and the little tubes on that valve have been broken off. There is also a vacuum line on the bottom of my stock intake tube that I can't figure out for the life of me where it goes. I plugged it off with a bolt but I'm sure it is SUPPOSED to be somewhere relavent.

So I need to know what that valve is and if it's important, and I also need to know where that hose on my intake goes.

Thanks!:1zhelp:

That blue valve is the BVSV...it opens at temp to allow the TB to pull fuel vapor from the charcoal canister. The way it's hooked up now, it puts vac on the canister at all times...not a huge deal, but I would get a new BVSV at some point.

That line on the bottom of the intake pipe goes to a two nipple valve on top of the power steering pump. It's for the P/S idle up when turning the car at low rpm...if it is not hooked up correctly, you'll be pulling unmetered (pirate) air to the TB. That can cause idle speed problems.
