V8 engine swap questions

Its pretty bad but since the exhaust is just patched together I dont feel like investing anymore money in the exhaust.

Anyone have a measurement or an idea of how much hood clearance there is with an SBC in one of these things?

and a stealth ram itself. Its fairly tall so im curious if it will fit.

ok anyone know which headers to use? or should I stick to block hugger headers? I want to have the exhaust mated with an RSR catback.

lol... keep thinking that. And honestly it will be a lot more reliable than any ebay modded 7m. I have nothing against the 7m. But how many reliable daily driver worthy 7ms are there in the 350-400hp range muchless any higher? Not bashing on it but lets be honest here not many. Nothing wrong with the motor though. Just this is my way of doing things.

Was thinking the intake wouldnt fit though... Will probably find out when the motor mounts are done just how much intake I can fit under the hood. Hoping we can drop the motor down a bit more than most people do and run a shorty/block hugger header.

There are quite a few in that power range that are DD's around here, sorry to burst your bubble.

If you're not going with a modern Chevy V8 (LS1 or better), then there really isn't a reason to do the swap...

Theres still a lot of reasons to do the swap. An SBC can do 350-400hp on nothing more than a cam and a good intake on a set of stock heads and stock shortblock. Ls1 is a great motor but SBC pesrformance didnt die off once they made it. Theres a lot of potential in the SBCs not to mention the aftermarket is massively cheaper than the 7M-1J-2J-1UZ. A lot of you guys seem to get caught up in keeping it pure toyota while a lot of the original hot rodders never kept anything brand specific. The toyota engine family is a good family of engines. However its not what I prefer. You prefer the 7M over the SBC. Great. Thats your preference not mine. Ive had great luck with the sbc engines. I prefer the sound and feel and powerband over the inline 6's and the cost rules out the 1UZ. Not to mention my automatic V8 camaro actually got better gas mileage than 5 spd 7M and it was faster...

So with that said back to the point of the thread.

Anyone know which headers the sbc crowd has used? Ive been trying to look around but havent had much luck.
