Using flourescent oil dye with synthetic oil

I've got fresh german castrol in my crankcase and my oil leak has chosen to get a bit faster.

Am I able to put oil dye in my engine and use it to detect my leak, then leave it in for the next 5k-8k miles til the oil change or is this something I should get out immediately after it has served its purpose? should I even be using this (I've tried pressure washing but it hasn't worked out too well)?

Dye is an excellent way to find a leak and will not harm your motor. You can leave it in there till the next change.

Where would you find the dye at?
I have a leak and have no clue where its at.
Do they make dye for coolant?

they make dye for refrigerant, coolant and oil. i asked at autozone and they didn't have much of anything, but napa had all the dyes readily available.

^ That's surprising since my local AZ sells some of the best tracer dyes I've ever used. Made by Quest, aka EF Products.

picked up one of napa's bottles of dye (1 oz). there aren't any instructions on the bottle, so i suppose i should just add the entire thing to my crankcase?

Single use bottles. 1 per application.

That's the point...1 oz is not a heck of a lot in the big scheme of things. Not going to hurt a thing staying in till the next change.
