USDM and JDM throttle bodies

Cant seem to find if that has been Discussed before but really, Is there a Major Difference between the 2. I know that the Part that pulls the Flapper open is totally Different and the JDM one one has 1 vaccuum port on top but is one actually better than the other. I have both and want to Know which one would be best to use.

Also, Is there a Certain throttle linkage you need for the JDM style?

im curious to this too, my throttle body is USDM but what pulls the mechanism open is totally different than other Supras ive seen.

Supposed to be a bit loose as if it binds you die LOL

You can tighten the cable and the bar that connects to the throttlebody...

I ran a N/A throttle cable to a JDM throttlebody on my car for quite some time. Way more direct throttle feeling, and no dealing with sloppy linkage. I posted pics a few years ago, I'm sure if you dig around you could find them easily. :)

I believe the jdm has only one vacuum nipple since they don't utilize an egr. If you live where emissions is tested, I don't think you'll pass with a jdm TB.

Also, manual TB are different from automatics, usdm and jdm.

Yes but so was the Geo Storm..

it's not Japanese SPEC, but it is built in Japan. Same way the Toyota Voltz, a rebadged Pontiac Vibe, was built RHD in a North American factory and sent over to Japan...






but don't worry, I do get what you guys are saying..:D

how is jdm better? they are the exact same internals minus the egr. slap an egr on :::ta di f-in' da:::! you have a usdm one... plus neither throttle body is better at all a jdm one is for a rhd and it's a pain to use a lhd cable with. had to mcgyver it all badass

IMO the linkage setup on the LHD 7m engine is absoutely hideous.

Since I had to go with a new cable for my drivetrain swap anyways I got a lil creative and used an automatic transmission kickdown cable from an Isuzu SUV, looks much better than the OEM LHD setup.

Because it eliminates the entire linkage setup, which sucks. It's not a pain to use either, it took me all of five minutes to figure out a way that would allow proper operation, while still being 100% safe. The side benefit of it is a more direct feel of the throttle.

(Hint: a USDM 7MGE manual throttle cable works wonders;))

haha yeah when i saw it i was like wtf?... i'm sure once i start her up it will be cool... and i agree internet shows no emotion haha, didnt mean to show anger i pissed-off-ness in any way... another prime example of this medium :p

You do know that the main reason it's done the way it is is because of the Cruise Control, right?

JDM Cruise Control moves the pedal.

You'd also have issues if it was an auto as you'd have to figure out a way to work in the kickdown cable.
