Dropping in a motor "tested" or no without rebuilding it is a crapshoot. Maybe you will get a well maintained motor with low miles...maybe you will get some ragged out pos that happens to have good compression this week only....luck of the draw.

That is where i got mine from, it sucked, and trying to talk to the same person at tigerjapanese twice is impossible.
Why did it suck? I mean yea mine was kinda dirty like it has been sitting in a warehouse for a while but it came with a perfect turbo and tranny and the motor hasnt skipped a beat since it was first turned over. Also..there was no need for me to talk to the same person twice. I called once to make sure the motor was infact in stock and the guy said it was..so i ordered it online and it came to my door 6 business days later.
I guess everyone has a different experience with JDM motors.

Ill probably go with Jarco or Tiger Japanese. My plans for the engine will be

Cometic MHG, ARP Bolts, 550CC Injectors, Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump, New Oil Pump, New Water Pump, GReddy Timing Belt, Lex AFM, Bosch 110 BOV, GReddy TD06H (off my current 7MGTE), AFPR, Apex Intake, NGK Plug Wires (if that counts).

If i have some spare cash at that time ill also buy a set of hardpipes, downpipe. I already have a Tanabe SHM sitting in my closet.

Do you guys think the motor will be able to handle the power? Im only shooting for 350-410HP on the stock block and auto tranny. I heard getting a trans. cooler would be a good idea.

Will the engine handle it?-Yes..Stock tranny?-probably not for long if at all.
Youre going to want to find some way get more oil flowing thru the motor as well. Either ditch the stock oil cooling circuit and go for a full flow or shim the pump and replace the pump hardline with ARZs kit. Or all of the above. You'll thank yourself later.

All 7M's are JDM, Supras were all made in Japan in the MKIII line.

The oil sending unit from an engine coming over from Japan needs to be tossed or you will FUBAR you gauge cluster.

Your best bet is to do what I'll be doing this weekend, buy a motor locally and rebuild it while you still have yours in the car.

Hmmm really?? My oil press. gauge seems to work ok other than the fact it says i have 20psi when the car is off. So i pretty much have to subtract 20 from all the oil pressures i see.. Im getting an aftermarket one soon.

Man, so many bad experiences with JDM engines. Mine has run great, and has yet give me a problem. It was compression tested before being shipped, and came with a one year, unlimited mileage warranty. For only $845. Sorry to hear you guys all had bad luck.

Where'd you get your motor from? When my car comes back from the body shop, I'm going to drop a JDM motor in it to freshen it up. I've got a place near-by ('bout an hour away) that has 'em for 900, but not sure on the warranty.

They are screwed into the block. Unscrew the old one, screw in the new one, plug back in.
Im looking through my '88 TSRM I can't find the oil sending unit. I plan on stopping by toyota today to see how much a new one will cost. And where it is exactly so I know to swap it.

About 8-10 inches below the CPS. It has a rubber boot over it that has the connector inside of that boot. Disconnect the sensor and then unscrew it.

i suggest rebuilding a JDM motor if you decide to go that route, however, mine is held up just fine after about 2 years of thrashing on it.

(took it off the road because i wanted to, not because i needed to. ;))
