yes i know this will be a hard project and yes i kno that a single turbo would prob be best but i lik the sound of this. i can pick up a US SPEC 2jz turbo with 60,000 miles for 300,and im in the process of getting a 1jz. what im wondering has anybody recently done this? and if so what are parts that you will need. ive read that you will need a 3/8 spacer, do a little mod. to the exhaust housing and a little time. but what im reading is that you need 2 wastegates to run boost? can somebody jus point out how it works. thanks

and please i dont feel like having this thread turned into a giant arguement

The US 2jz turbo's are CT-12b's, JDM 2jz turbo's are the CT20's. The CT20's are much closer to working with the 1jz than the CT12b's.

Also, I have a set of CT20's set up to go on the 1jz that i'd be willing to part with. :icon_bigg

yea ive been reading about swapping turbos on the 1jz. i mean they say its the best bang for the buck and the us turbos have steel wheels if im not correct so you can run a little higher boost with a good exaust set up and fmic

curious about who "they" are.

this topics been covered alot before, they are not a "best bang for the buck", going single is much less of a hassle than adapting the turbos to fit on the 1JZ, its been done before, but those guys are now single turbo.

its your car tho, so if you want to go through with it, feel free

I would have to disagree with you there. I got my aristo turbos for free after buying an aristo ecu (they now belong to JonoTurbo), and all that is needed to be purchased to run them is a spacer 3/8" from the rear turbo to the y pipe and a custom DP from the aristo y pipe. The studs are very close to lining up, you only need to stretch 2 holes total about 2-3mm. They use stock oil lines, and can use the stock intake setup (better to run the aristo setup though). I would consider this a better bang for your buck than a single, it is just more of a PITA.

I agree with Mike here, it is a good bang for the buck setup. I'd like to add that I've since discovered that a spacer is not needed if you run two Aristo rear housings, since the rear is 3/8" longer than the front housing. This means that the only custom part you need is a downpipe. I have also since picked up a second set of Aristo twins for $20, so they are hardly expensive.

Toss them on the car already then.

the aristo turbo's aren't any more reliable then the 1j's stocker's.changing out one set for another that don't last long at all will have you saving up for that single.it's just easier and cleaner set-up with a single.IMO
