I have rented the dynapack for 4 hours and my new Spec super twin carbon clutch is slipping in 4th gear.

I bought a brand new kit with fiber discs a couple moinths ago. With fluid leakage from day one,the discs got worn out pretty fast.I sent the clutch back to Spec to get overhauled.

I got a new center plate, and i upgraded to carbon discs.

Now were at the motorsport center trying to do some runs, and its slipping at 16-17 psi

Does anyone have any idea what preload the clutch should have.Cause its obviously set up wrong

It shouldn't have any preload. The throw bearing shouldn't be contacting the pressure plate unless your foot is on the pedal. Admittedly, the clearance between the bearing and the pressure plate should be very small.

Can you hear the plates rattle when it idles with the clutch out and the tranny in neutral?

I have a feeling the release bearring is putting too much preasure on it.

I think i can hear them rattle.I'll have to do a better check tomorrow

The rattle isn't a 'think' item... it's obvious. The plates rattle ... if they don't, I'd suspect your system isn't releasing the pressure plate all the way. I've got a vid on youtube somewhere... lemme dig...

Bah. Got a vid, but the engine wasn't on. Duane doesn't have that clutch anymore, either, so it's not like I can even get a new clip! Take my word for it, it's loud.

Hmm...Then somethings deffinetly off !

I've never had a rattle that loud.not even close. Not with the 1st or 2nd clutch. The only difference i noticed between the two was harsher engagement with the carbon discs.

If the release bearring really is too close,i cant understand how, when this should be a bolt on kit! Theres no way of adjusting this except shimming the inside if the bearring where the adapter plate is to get more place between that and the clutch.....

Bolt in kit is great in theory, but keep in mind this is very new - they can't have sold many of them yet. I'm not even sure there are any in the wild that are working yet.

There's a sleeve around the input shaft that can be cut down on a lathe for more clearance, IIRC. Bit of a pain to remove, though.

I did something alot easier.Instead of shimming the sleeve,i took off the adapter plate attached to the bearring housing. There a center hole in it which i drilled out about
6mm.Fit like a gloove after that.So the only thing left is to give it some boost in 4th today.hope is works

Iive had to take out the gearbox and clutch 3 times since the first one.Alot of freekin work

But even with all the hastle,i have to say i havent had any better costumer service anywhere else. They where very quick to overhaul my first clutch and upgrade to carbon free of charge. And shipping was 3 days to my doorstep in Norway

Thanks for your input Grimjack
