I still believe that the ridgidity issue is a fact to be honest. It does make sense too. These shallow frames are far more densier now and this will definatelly affect the actual chassis ridgidity, there's no question about that.

I hope you acid cleaned the inside of the frame rails. the foam is going to shrink and become useless.
Acid clean??? That's a bit extreme don't you think? Let alone the fact that cleaning the inside of the frame rails with anything else than air blasting is next to impossible.

Randy and I did this today. It'll be a few weeks before the car is driven, so I'll report the ride quality results then. We used 8lb density urethane pour foam from US Composites.

Randy cutting a hole in the rocker panels so I could prep the inner surfaces:

I bought a steel wire chimney brush with a 3 foot long fiberglass rod. It was tough to use but we managed to scuff up the insides for better adhesion.

Here is the cut panel re-welded. We poured the foam in after thoroughly vacuuming/blowing air inside the frame areas.

I also opted to fill the rear crossmember. This foam is EXTREMELY dense. You can push your thumb into it as hard as you can and it does not dent at all. A 1.5" cow-patty shaped chunk could not be broken by hand either. I think the results could be very promising and just might eliminate the targa wobble, which was my main reason for doing this.

We abused 12 jumbo slurpee cups, 6 funnels, and several egg beaters during this process :)

I think thats the same polyurethane expansion foam I got my a friend who has his own fiberglass business.

He gave me 2 x 5 gals of it free. They cost about $400 here.

Cheers,
Roy
