It's Feb 5th and this is what we have done so far.
rebuilt the head
installed the pistons rods and crank
new oil pump
new water pump
new timing belt and pulleys
fiberglassed the dash with an integrated gauge pod
installed the dash (less the electronics)
cleaned and detailed engine bay
painted the engine parts & inter cooler pipes plus some interior parts to match the future exterior paint scheme
(blue and black 2 tone)
Not bad my friend. Like stated above. Toyota uses FIPG black rtv. Reseal the pan with that and ya should be set! Might want to look into some other gauges as well!
yeah, the engine was already in when I read the replies. I'm not a big fan of cork either but I used rtv on both sides of it. I think I'll be fine, the car is going to be a limited use vehicle anyways. I DO appreciate the tips. I know you are only trying to help. thank you.
In all honesty, as easy as it is to pull one of these motors, I'd pull it again and get rid of that cork gasket. I wouldn't trust the cork as far as I can spit. There's a reason Toyota doesn't use them from the factory.
Did a little work today. Once i get the engine back together I'll go back through it and see what i can do to clean up the engine bay. It's awful busy under the hoods of these cars. The cleaner engines seem to be using stand alone engine management systems. Can't afford that. The dash is coming along nicely. The directional s/w is a casualty though. If anybody has one for sale or knows where we can get one let me know.
I do like the lipp kit, but i got to say that these pipes are a pain in the ass! My girlfriend says this is her first and last turbo kit she will install again.
