Found my upper balljoint on the D/S is shot on my 87'... great, whatever, just what I need.

I found a control arm new for $70 but they say it only fits 89-92. Almost every other website I check says 86.5-92 use the same upper arms. The only thing is they all want $200+ for them. I checked the OEM parts system and it says the arm was changed in late 88', and again in late 89'. Does anyone know what the difference is and if the newer arms will fit the older cars?

I bought mine from autopartsway, first time dealing with them and super satisfied. Got my arms in 2-3 days, and they were $135, and $150, no idea why the price was different side to side lol,

Thanks for all the info. I did check rockauto, they had the best price. They're catalog was what was throwing me off though, they list much cheaper ones for the 89-92, less than half the price. I'll be ordering that one.

It was odd, I checked all of the balljoints with the lower control arms preloaded on jackstands (with the car supported on the lift) and the lowers were obviously bad, but the uppers both were fine. I was doing the brakes last night and the suspension was just hanging unloaded and then the drivers side upper had play in it, and alot of it. Usually upper balljoints wear more at normal ride height, not at full droop. I think this car was hammered on in farm fields for a few years or something.

Oh the OEM catalog that was listing different part numbers for the 88 and 89+ was on toyotapartszone. They have been accurate for me in the past, and they use OEM diagrams and part numbers. Not sure why they're different than cygnusx1.
