Upper Control Arms

I was wondering if anyone have replaced them ? how often these go bad ? I had my lower ball joints replaced during summer cause one of them popped out while i was driving ( scary shit ever happen to me in a supra ). The shop i got done told me to get the upper one's needs to be replaced also. I know shops tend to make some things up to make money. I was wondering what i should look for if there bad or not ? I looked up prices on these couple of months back and they cost an arm and leg. Any advice ??

I would just replace them seeing as the car is 20 years old. I replaced mine and it was pretty easy. The trick is finding them at a decent price.

So it' something i can install it my self but i will need alignment done once i install it.

Fasi, UCA's from Toyota are about 150+ IIRC. That's per arm.
