i kind of ask this questions before but really got no answer or nothing to great. Just curious has anyone ran a upgraded ct-26 on the stock fuel system??? IT would be possible to run something like a .57 trim or .59 trim on lowest boost setting and not worry about fuel cut?

Yes you can but the problem you potentally face is that being the upgraded turbo puts out more CFM, it will reach fuel cut at a lower boost level than a stock turbo. I can't answer from experience, but I would imagine that it would not hit fuel cut with stock boost settings.

Why would you want to upgrade, is it because the turbo is available?

If you are boosting the stock 7psi you dont have anything to worry about i m boosting 14psi on the stock ct26 and stock fuel and i am pig rich. I think its fair to say that the air that is being pushed at 14psi on the stocker is a bit more than the 7psi on the upgraded ct26. I am also researching this right now and i have spoken to a couple of people who have done it however they did add a walbro fuel pump, by-passed J-tube, and a SAFC all that with the stock 440's. However my question is wat is the duty cycle of the stock 440's at that power level?

I would like an upgraded for more power, but just to use it to get around town untill I could afford to upgrade the whole fuel system as well. Just was wondering if it be fine on low boost till I upgraded fuel system.

I will be getting an upgraded ct-26 asap and running it at stock boost with a stock fuel system for a while. I think it will be fine.

Rajunz, I have hit 16psi during the summer with the stock AFM with the screw backed all the way out.

how do you back the screw out? (there isn't anything to grab onto)

and my other question is.... how will you keep the upgraded ct from creeping as well... even then, all that will happen is you'll hit fuel cut... is the wastegate ported?

This is getting stupid. Number one, at stock boost levels an upgraded CT won't be in it's power range, so you won't gain much of anything. Just crank up your stock turbo until you hit fuel cut and call it a day.

Seriously, come on guys, quit piece mealing crap together. Do it right or not at all, buy your fuel system first. You can run the stock turbo up to 14psi and make decent power with a good fuel system.

At the minimum, buy 550 injectors, AFPR, fuel pump and a Lexus, then from there go to a larger turbo. Don't do it back asswards, that's just asking for headaches and heartaches.

And to back the screw out you need to get a large drill bit and drill out the side of the housing, the screw is inside.

well Like I said I will just run it at stock levels. When the engine is apart might as well put a new turbo on as My old one is leaking oil like a bitch so probaly a good idea to put on a upgraded ct-26 just run it on stock levels, then go with a bigger fuel system and THEN up the boost. If U say it won't make a difference in power at stock boost levels then thats what I wanted to hear.

Now that's not a bad reason to put one on if you're already going to have the engine apart. I just hate seeing people get carried away and do things the wrong way, then regret it when they blow up.

I agree with you, Rajunz, do it right the first time and don't get carried away. The only part that I don't is the 550's, definatley AFPR and a Walbro, but as long as you have clean 440's, an upgraded ct shouldn't be a problem for the stock injectors. I would say if you do go 550's you will definatley need a tuning device.

Personally I'm upgrading because my stock ct-26 just bit the dust, so now is the perfect time to upgrade because I'll be buying a new turbo anyway.

89jdm7m, if I were in your situation, I would just replace it with another stock turbo. Who cares how fast your car is, concentrate on your schooling. Fast cars will suck your wallet dry.

I've mainly posted on SF for years, but I always try to preach to the young guys, DO NOT get caught up in horsepower wars, spend your money wisely, spend it on restoring your car, not trying to make it faster. Most go out, piece meal it all together, trash it, and them come online and bitch about how the 7M is a piece of shit.

You are correct AYE MATE, and you can also do alot with raising the fuel pressure, the problem is alot of people read what you wrote and try to copy it without any experience.

I saved up parts on the shelves in my basement until I had everything I needed, that helped not having to buy parts in any particular order, so when I had money to spend, I could buy whatever I could get the best deal on.

No you have me wrong, I never had any impression that you didn't work hard on your car, my last post was not directed at you. It came from the fact that you posted that you were 18, 7$ an hour and in college. The rest of what I wrote pertains to what I've seen over the last 5 years on SF, it's happened over and over, time and time again. To be honest, my impression from your previous posts were that you were mid 20's and had been working on these cars for years, you speak very knowlegable about them. About the only thing that I can say, honestly, is your frickin' Avatar creeps me the hell out!:1zhelp:

I drove it with a stock motor while I saved up the parts, then did it all at once so down time was minimal. I usually take a week of vacation every year in the spring and work on the Supra and piss around in the garage. There's nothing wrong with the way youre doing it as long as you don't cost yourself money.
