I dont have alot of the specifics right now. Right now, Im just trying to see if there is an intrest so that I dont waste my time getting all the info together only to find out no one wants these.
There is definatly more resistance in the alternator, I can feel it when turning it by hand. That being said, its still very easy to turn by hand, nothing to it. The way they are being upgraded is with a new, more compact stator coil. Its designed to fit into the stock housing. There is also a extra, external resistor installed on the back of the alternaror.
As for price, Im not ready to say for sure %100 anything yet, but I **think** the dollar value is going to be the same across to board, whether you want 100 amps or 160, for an uprgraded 1J alternator rebuild. I will also be able to have a steady supply of the 92-94 SC alternators, which are a little larger, both size and amperage(105amps), but they are direct bolt in for a 1J.
As for the 7M, and 2J's, for a little more you could have a brand new alternator that has been upgraded, OR you could have a rebuilt and upgraded alternator for very close to the same price as the 1J rebuilds.
Im going to try an get mine on this weekend, then I will be able to get a few numbers to hopefully spark some more intrest
