Guys im in the middle of a decision, wether to get a 130 amp alternator for 85 shipped or a 160amp for 150 shipped. What do you guys think ? Will the 130 be fine for some E-fans and some other electronics?

If I'm not mistaken, stock is somewhere around 80 amps...so I would think a 130 amp alternator would be tons. The biggest problems you'll run in to is pulling power from the wrong places and blowing fuses. Do your homework, wire it in properly, and you shouldn't have any problems.

the rewound alternators are decent, dont expect alot of amperage at idle tho. i would honestly check out doing a 3g upgrade. the ford taurus alternator, huge casing and the 4x4 guys use them. 130amps and can be easily found at the junk yard. i actually have one siting in my basement now.

what year taurus and what engine? and does it physically bolt up? and im assuming i would need the plug as well to adapt it? got pinouts of what goes where? i got no prob wiring in the plug but making a diff mounting bracket might be a prob since im putting a ffim and keeping my ac. might cause interference issues.

HI everybody , the alternator im talking about is the ones from ebay. I called 2 shops and the 130 is an mr2 alt with a mk3 round plug. The 160amp is a rewound mr2 and they both come with a 1 year waranty. Im just gonna go with the 130 amp cause its anly 50 amps bigger. Im gonna run the taurus sho 16 inch fan along with a 1600 watt amp and 12 inch L7 solo baric.

sounds like a good deal man, I'm currently running the SHO fan myself. I'd love to see pics of your install to compare and contrast. PM me and let me know about pics and wiring. Back to alternators, hows the clearance from the MR2 alt and the PCV tube that runs to the block, because mines a tight fit already.

Im planning on running the CRX RACING new aluminum radiator with it and installing a temp controller so i can control both speeds of the fan. I seen the 2nd speed on the damn fan and GOOD DAMN does it flow some air. It pulls some amps though like 30 i heard, thats why im upgrading the alternator. And 85 shipped and 1 year warranty seems pretty good for the 130 amp. The wiring inside the alt on the pic looks bright red , really nice and new. Ill let you know on on the fitment when i get it. Im on my way to the drive way to start pulling my NEW 216 mile SEIZED UP engine :(. ......

arent mr2 alternators bolt ons? and about 130amp?

You have to get the one from an MR2 with electric driven power steering...it's 100 Amp. It's a direct fit, but the pulley needs to be swapped out.
