is it possible to use a 89 style p/s pump with the mount locations of an 86.5 7m?
my original pump from the car leaks like crazy and ive got the newer style from my swap still.
does any one know how far off the pumps are from each other?

no not the rack and pinion, the power steering pump it self, my rack and pinion is fine as long as ive got fluid it steers fine.

i did some research in class and have another question now. the pump i have from the jdm swap looks identical to the ones from a gte, could i just swap the brackets and pump and use the gte reservoir and lines?

as long as the pulley on the pump is the same size, you are good to go. If they are different sizes, swap the pulley from your old pump to the new one.

but thats just it my old pump and new one look nothing alike, the lines dont match up either along with the mounting brackets even though theyre both from 7mge's.

i'll take a picture of the new pump and the old still in the car when i get back from my work,

You are confused.

The PPS function is in the RACK not the pump. Yes they are different pumps but there is not much difference other than the electrical switch which i believe helps with idle control.
