First off ill list the mods and problems so far.

88 Turbo Automatic

Intake
Tanabe SHM
GReddy Type S BOV
Speed Source Lower IC Pipe
Head Retorqued to 75ft lbs. (If that counts)
GReddy TD06H-20G Turbo
GReddy Profec B Boost Controller

Problems
Crack in Stock Downpipe
Getting only 9.5mpg
No Fan Shroud (Yet)

Main problem
When i floor from a dead stop its like a slug sort of it will accelerate and finally start to spool at 3000rpm but it spools very slow full boost is at 4500-5000rpm and it will spool to im guessing 12psi hit fuel cut shift gears then it will boost only 8psi-9psi. Even with my boost controller set to the lowest it could possibly go it still hit fuel cut when it get to 5000-6000rpms im not sure why its doing this. I had a fun run with Bluechulappa and he pretty much waxed me had at least 2 or 3 cars on me and he let off half way. Steven (Steven89) suggest i have a boost leak, but ive pretty much checked and replaced all the hoses EXCEPT the Intercooler Outlet to Intake Hose/Plastic Pipe and the 45 degree hoses that goes onto the 3000 pipe. Any suggestions? Obviously my car isnt running right, so im hoping you guys can help me.

Thanks

No previous owner said it blew so he said he rebuilt the motor not sure if that's true looked like he swapped in a jdm motor or something.

Every connection is good. Replaced TPS, CPS. All hoses, new fan clutch. i pulled my spark plugs just now because i heard this odd sound at the back of the engine im new to cars so im not sure if this is normal or not.

Among other problems it burns oil on start up (Valve Seals i plan to fix that when i do my rebuild no space or time to do it now)

Plug #6 and Plug #1
The black soot is from when i my IC pipe blew off but that was only for 3min then i fixed it (Didnt tighten it down enough).

it could be the EGR cooler gasket.... because thats at the back of the head.

but i was going to suggest checking your wastegate, and if its not shimmed, then shim it with 2 washers to tighten up the spring inside. because it sounds like your wastegate is bad, which is why you go so slow.

Derek, I think that noise you are hearing towards the rear of the engine is exhaust escaping from your cracked downpipe. That is what it sounds like to me.

uhh... whats with the homo music? it made it really hard to hear the engine...

Well the radio was down pretty low and that was just a station. I was focusing on the boost guage my foot didn't let off the gas pedal, you can see the boost go up past 8psi and drop down to 7 or 8 then climbs again and drops back to 8psi.

Sell me the turbo. ;)

Sounds like boost leak to me.

I checked every hose its as tight as can be. I checked the hoses not a single crack. Unless I overlooked something. Where are common places for boost leaks that one wouldn't suspect? I already fixed the lower IC Pipe. Unless my BOV is leaking (I don't feel any air coming out of it.)

Can my stock downpipe and cat cause this with the larger turbo?

Thanks

Make a boost leak tester.

Supra is like this. Fix one leak and have another in a month. ;)

Idle speed controller, TB. ECT. TOO MANY PLACES!

Edit: That tick is an exhaust leak. :(

Time to go with the DM 7/16 kit.

thats def a exhaust leak... mine was making the same sound. turns out 2 of my mani studs were stripped out and they were loose.. there for causing the ticking sound. also when i would rev the engine from under the hood it would shoot a little smoke from the manifold where it was leaking... so check there for sure... also do you think its a possibility that your boost controller is bad???

Possible I've got the first GReddy Profec B. With the Balance, Low and High Knobs.
On the back 4 and 1 are up while 2 and 3 are down.

Idle speed when cold is 1200rpms

Idle speed when warm 650rpms

My manifold bolts are ok I just checked. Sorry to DP. The ticking noise is indeed coming from the crack in my downpipe. I checked all my hoses again today, I found a small tiny little cut on one of my intake hoses to the throttle body but it doesn't look like it goes through the hose. Can a BOV leak I have a GReddy and its Vented I need to get a bosch so I can resurculate. Should I play with the spring to see if that helps? Also what setting should boost controller be set at. Doesn't the GReddy 20G have an external wastegate? Or is it internal not sure on these things?

my friends greddy BOV leaks at an idle...

and the 20g is typically an internal wastegate turbo. just look for a gold thing on the turbo with an "arm" going to the otherside...

and how old is that hose on the 3000 pipe to TB?
