Up & Down Revolutions. help!

Hey guys,
I just came back form work when suddently my engine revolutions start going from 200RPM to 1000Rpm continuously. It was fine this morning at 850RPM.
It is a 7MGE.
Any sugestion on what to check for?:1zhelp:


Now it wont start at all. what the hell is going on?

check your icv valve and your vacuum reading on idle

I wish I could do that.
now it wont start. It appears to be fuel pump related. I am checking the fuel pump now by jump wireing it.

Just came back from fuel pump test and negative. No pressure, Nothing:3d_frown:. Is there anything else to check or is it obvious?

I am sorry for the ignorant question but how exactly do you check for codes?
I am new to all of this.

Yes, I did what the book says for troubleshooting the fuel pump.
Turn the ignition on.
Jump from terminal Fp and +B at the service connector.
Nothing happened.:3d_frown:

How do you know nothing happend? What did you check for?

Jump those FP and +B and open take off your gas cap and then open the little door with a screw driver and you should be able to hear the fuel pump.

I was in my garage (very quiet) and no noise from the pump. I got under the car and nothing. I disconnected the main gas line that feeds the injectors and just air came out.

Did you check your EFI fuse? its located under the hood, right behind the battery.

Yes, no blown fuses.
I took the pump out today and discovered that a 30 cent piece of plastic cost me my pump. The plastic housing for the fuel pump little filter had broken and something got inside the pump and locked it up. :kickinthenuts:

:3d_frown:Ok guys, back to the drawing board.
New pump and still nothing.
No blown fuses.
I took a long wire and jumped the fuel pump all the way back at the connector plug and thare was fuel inmediately coming out from the cold start injector hose.

Any ideas?

BINGO!
Sometimes is the simple stuff we overlook.
The 7.5A IGN fuse was good bot not making contact. I twisted the fuse legs a little and done.
I got it running again. I just wonder what the original problem was.
Maybe the revs started going up and down as the fuse was vibrating in the fuse holder. Who knows.
Well, if the old pump was not bad, withot filter it was not going to last long.

Is anybody having problems like this? This is my second one where the cause is the fuse not making good contact.
