So just recently when i went out to hop in the Soup and go for a drive as i unlocked it the Alarm went off...

I CAN unlock it from the passenger side and the alarm doesnt sound. it's getting kinda annoying having to unlock the car from the passenger side everytime though.

Any ideas what the heck is going on?

I did also notice that the door ajar light does not come on when the doors are open. the ONLY thing i did recently was replace some of the #74 LED's in the gauge cluster and jockey box... but i really dont see how that could affect anything..

IDEAS???

When you lock it does it go off? From drivers side?

Maybe your stock alarm crapped out or wiring issues in the door or Did you unplug something and not plug it back in?

my jeep is the same way. the disarm is linked to the pass side, so someone slim jimming/picking the lock on the dr side wont turn the alarm off.

that sucks... i'm guessing it might be hard to compare that to my Soup :( haha. like unlocking from the passenger side of course ALSO unlocks the driver side so it's like something within the locking mechanism on drivers side maybe??

totally a guess.

so no causes/solutions yet?

Iirc it Sounds like a alarm comp taking a shit. They always go bad. But it could just be the drivers solenoid. Know way to know without testing with dvom.

Could also look through older alarm problem threads and see if you find one the same. Used to see these threads but not lately.

I'll check there. The locking mechanism has been getting really stiff so when i lock it from the inside the drivers side doesnt usually lock all the way and sometimes i can open even when "locked". so i push it all the way before closing the door but don't know if that has anything to do with it.

do you have the remote for the alarm?

no remote. just the key. if they came with remotes thats new to me. as far as i knew they never came stock with remote. the key was your remote.

^ Agreed, check the condition of the little switch on the drivers lock cylinder, when you open up the door panel and remove the lock cylinder, its the light green thing thats clipped onto the end of the key cylinder that switches one way or the other when the key is turned inside, sends the theft deterrent computer a signal if its been locked or unlocked.

when you lock the car, sit in side and see if the lock goes all the way to the right or just half way. I know on my supra, if i lock the car and unlock over the passenger side the alarm will go off. It's because when i power lock it, it doesn't lock all the way. It stops half way.

Switch on the driver's side key cylinder wears and doesn't send the signal to the alarm that it's been unlocked.

Same problem I had on my 88. Exact same problem. :)

Mine was popped off from someone jamming wood blocks in the door to hold up the broken window regulator. Fun times.
