Hey everyone!

I'd like to ask the turbo gurus for their expertise on this Garrett turbo that i have. I do not know what model turbo it is so i did some research online at many different sites and forums and such and to me it seems like i may have a T4 turbo. All i know is that this thing is frickin huge lol, and it aint going in until the engine gets rebuilt (7mgte) with some new parts.

So i'd like to know first off what model this is (probably a T4)

I was told that with enough back pressure this turbo can create over 30 psi, is this correct?

Is the turbo have Journal Bearings (probably so) or Ball Bearings (that would be sweet!) because the part number shows: eshn6k682bb so maybe the bb at the end means ball bearing lol?

Visiting the Garrett website was useless,
Here is all the info i got off the turbo itself:

Cold Side: m24 a/r .70 Garrett apm

Hot Side: Garrett a/r 1.32 m1

Info on plate: Part number: eshn6k682bb (does the bb at the end mean ball bearing?) and it says made in usa by Garrett then to the right it says Airesearch Industrial Division (so the turbo was probably used in a truck or other Industrial machinery)

The turbo is huge and there is absolutely zero axial play!
I'll attach some pics, please let me know what you think and Thank you for lending your time!

Thx for the reply's guys, i do think you guys are right in that it only has journal bearings, was hoping that it was ball bearings because the part number "eshn6k682bb" ended in bb lol!

Anyone know if it's true that this thing can compress over 30 psi?

Thanks again!

Thats a journal bearing T4 diesel turbo off a Ford application.

Its a P trim turbine and a compressor wheel that's slightly smaller than a 57 trim to4e.

With a smaller turbine housing, you'd have a decent turbo for a 7mgte. Problem is, you'd be hard pressed to make mid 400's with that small of a compressor wheel.

That turbo however, would be a great candidate to send to a turbo shop and a 67mm compressor wheel and To4S style housing installed.

You could then sell the compressor wheel to a stock ct26 owner for an upgrade for their CT.....

Sweet! Thx for the info MDCmotorsports! Off the top of your head, do you know what the approximate cost would be in getting a 67mm compressor wheel and To4S style housing installed on it?

The to4s style housing is around 200 and the wheel another 150. Who knows what they would charge you for a back plate, balance job, and machine work if need be....
