Underhood cooling

I don't have any overheating issues, but more cool/ambient air under there doesn't seem like a bad idea with a turbo V8. Can anyone point me in a direction of a certain way of routing more air under the hood? I really haven't looked at the front of the car, but I might toy with running some type of ducting from around the fog lights up towards the turbo/engine.

I just randomly thought about this while driving it home tonight. Again, no issues but more cool air would be nice I'm sure.

I've seen people run some ducting from a fog light spot, but then you are giving up your fog lights. If you've got no AC, or your AC is shot and you aren't going to fix it, you can remove the condenser that sits in front of the radiator.

Oh, and what turbo V8??

I have a turbocharged LS1 in my Supra. It has no A/C and the radiator is a custom one. Like I mentioned I don't have any issues with overheating, but I'd like to get some more air under the hood. I think I may give the fog light idea a shot. Mine haven't worked for a while anyhow and I never used them when they did.

Ceramic coat, header wrap, turbo blanket would keep the heat down...

I've been meaning to wrap more of the header on the one side to help protect the plug wires. A turbo blanket is probably a very good idea. I'll start looking around and order one in the next couple days.

I went nuts with mine and it still gets hot underhood....

haha, that's what I assumed. I'll get a turbo blanket and might try playing with some fog light ducting and we'll see. Honestly, I need to put a switch on the electric fans. Right now they're wired to always be on and the coolant only once in a while will hit 190 and that's sitting in traffic. I really don't need them running all the time. It's not hurting anything though so we'll see.

I really think at low speeds it needs an active hood vent (chimney) so the Hot air can escape.

I have 4 e-fans on the front of mine and if you don't bring them on fairly early it get's damn hot (it's winter here)

Most logical place is at the base of the windscreen but this is problematic for a couple of reasons..

When stopped it's fine and the heat can escape but when moving it's a high pressure area so will push air into the bay but also feed any fumes from the engine into the HVAC intake.

To add to my last post I was just out in the shed playing and looking at places to cut some vents when I noticed the Hood seal if removed provides a natural vent right where I want it!

This isn't an issue for me re: fumes as my new HVAC doesn't have a fresh air intake so the plenum is sealed from the inside of the car.

I'm going to have to figure something out. I do need to be cautious about fumes from under there though.
