That would be an absolute max...the exhaust gas passes through the EGR cooler at the rear of the head. Stainless would be way overkill.

so some copper pipes, bent to a 90 degree to another 90 degree to lower the EGR valve and then make a the necessary additions to the intake side hose to make it fit, forgot to say to make my life easier to cut off the block side of the EGR valve and use it as a flange then braze the copper pipes onto that, that sound like a plan?

My car came with a JDM 7MGTE (no EGR) and a USDM ECU. I installed an AEM progressive water/methanol injection kit that starts spraying a small amount at a very low psi, that goes to full spray at 12psi. I am boosting up to 21psi all the time now with no knock detected on the dyno. I didn't test for knock at part throttle and low boost, but there is a good chance it takes care of that detonation risk. You could always check this on a dyno to find out for sure. On a tight budget, I have found that I can have perfectly smooth driveability and great horsepower on a stock 7M & ECU with careful tuning and the meth kit. ;)
