She is a girl all  right  ...I hope that is good pain you are feeling there :aigo:

anyways...that rust looks really bad...remember most rust starts from the inside and comes out. Only way to really fix this is replace the metal...if you can't do that sand it as well as you can get some of that rust converter stuff and coat it really well then paint. It's only a matter of time until it shows up again.

Sorry for the bad news...good luck.

You know what I do to deal with rust when it's more than surface?
CUT IT OUT!!!111

Rust is sooo FTL. Weld a new piece of metal in IMO. That's the proper way to do it, yO! ;)

that ALOT of work there! time to decide if you want to keep the car forever!

option a:

buy a shitter run around car so you can spend a year or so totaly striping the shell and fixing all the rust

option b:

find another supra without rust

option c:

bog it, paint it, sell it!

People come and go, a supra project is forever!

Jenny I dont know enough to remove an entire pillar and put it back to how it would look right. Most of us dont unless you have been to school for it. So please dont feel offended. I have seen your work, I am sure you were the one calling all the shots in the lowering of hells car...............:biglaugh:

anyway good luck in sorting that lot out. hope you can fix it though. mine has a small rust spot at the top corner of the screen which i need to do. let me know how getting the trims off goes.

Oh btw if you were going to do that replacing the whole windscreen section wouldnt you have to jig the whole car up to prevent it from twisting? the windscreen struts are major structual areas arent they??

if you replace the whole sub-structure yes. If its just the first layer (of like 4) she should be able to just fab up a patch panel.

Jenny, Just go by what your eyes see. Fix the surface, make it look pretty, be satisfied for a few months until it starts showing again, then pretend it never happened before. Repeat this process.

Is that being nice about it?

Actually it is not that difficult to change it over, Main thing is having the right tools. I bought a spot weld drill for doing it. Basically you need to cut the otter layer of the lower a Pillar at the base, once that is done just drill down on the spot welds making sure you don't go into the lower part( the spot weld drill lets you control depth). Once that's done it will fit on no problem cause of the inner part, I also fitted the new otter skin with the targa on. It took me a week end to cut and grind everything to fit right. You can never tell that it was switched, cause all the stock weld holes were just re welded and all is good. Jenny if you need any help id be glad to give you any pointers, Good Luck "You Can Do It" Just practice on a parts car first, what i found out what helped was i complete cut the hole window frame off of the white car lower then what I needed and then took it apart from the inside out so I knew how to remove it off of the black car.
