Ok, someone has told them right? What im trying to say is there is no way for them to know on thier own. UPS wont tell them outright how they plan on juicing their customers for everything they can, otherwise why would a vedor ship with a company that plans on ripping off their customers?

Im sure at some point its been complained about. I know I asked them if they could ship usps to avoid fees and they said they don't. But they make exceptions sometimes depending on the value of the item.

Fedex is just as bad in my experience so that doesn't leave them with much choice.

Also I recently found out that sometimes ups/fedex go after the sender for the fees if the customer doesn't pay them. I wonder if that has happened to them. That would make sense as to why some companies refuse to ship to Canada.

Cross boarder shipping is the way to go. You can verify the states address with paypal and all is good.

So when shipping with UPS, they tell you "when the package is delivered we are going to charge the reciever "brokerage fees" that will be a rediculous amount":sarcasm: Its not the vender fault this happened. They arnt charging you the money. At worst they are simply not informed. The only thing that can be done is informing the vendors what UPS is up to. Complaining to them would be putting the fault on them. Many companys that ship alot of items have a deal with a shipping company, they pack it up, label it and everyday UPS, FEDEX, whomever shows up and picks up their packages.

if thats what you think then you really should open your mind about this. One thing that can be done is informing the vendors what UPS is up to. Complaining to them would be putting the fault on them. Many companys that ship alot of items have a deal with a shipping company, they pack it up, label it and everyday end UPS, FEDEX, whomever shows up and picks up their packages. They might not even care, how many of their shipments go International? %1? I recall a vendor on this very board stating they would no longer sell to canadians becasue of this exact issue.

Another thing to do is use a cross boarder shipping address. Im telling your from personal experiance, this is the best way to deal with international shipping between Canada and the US.

But other than those two things, your right, nothing can be done:cry:

Of course, you're absolutely right...It's not the vendors fault, but all I'm saying is they most likely all DO know that brokerage fees do occur. It's more or less common knowledge

And...A cross-boarder shipping address does work, although I can't be bothered to drive to Buffalo all the time so I just stick to using USPS myself

You mean shipping to an address in the US?

Yes. The place i use charges $2 dollars for a package, regardless of size. Whether it be a light bulb or a car, they will sign for it and only charge 2 bucks

So sending a package USPS to Canada knowing that you might avoid paying some sort of duty or taxes is border line illegal .....Could someone maybe send this thread to SS as a way not to complain....Later Barry

yep.. this is why we ALWAYS ship USPS to canada, unless the customer requests otherwise.

that being said, I still hate canada shipping.
