no... I got tired of hearing there were no nice mk3's and even mk3 guys talking down on my car. I just got done with paint, haven't done the interior yet, and yes I knew the engine bay needed a respray. However, I don't make 60+ k a year like some of the guys here with the high end cars. I built my car doing ALL the work myself. We painted the car ourselves in my buddies small shop... bought a used tig and built my own intake, intercooler pipes and lots of other stuff... and yet there were no nice cars. My car wasn't done by a long shot... but I'm going to build something everyone thinks is nice.

I don't really think I was doing that bad on the mk3... I'm 25 years old now, my house is paid off, my wife's car is paid off, I don't owe anyone shit. I still managed to build a car that had lots of potiential for power(if it ran right). All that on 35k a year. I'm not rich, and I can't just buy everything for the car at once. It took me four years to get to that point, and probably would have taken another two to get it finished. I got the mk4 on a deal, and I will admit, it is a nicer car. I still love mk3's, but I was growing tired of working on it...

As for the mk4, I'm doing GTE bottom end, GE head, FFIM, GTE cam covers, VVTI coil packs, AEM, T67, R154, and a bunch of other stuff. the mk3 partout is funding the majority of it.

Anyway... I thought I had the workings of what was going to be a nice car... but texas sure got me looked down on. I'll build another one day, and I assure you... It will be nice.

But it would have been fun to make the dvd.

I don't know who said your car wasn't nice but, it wasn't me. It was obvious to me that you had put alot of time and effort into it.

But, in order to get on the same DVD with some of the fastest street cars
in the country, your car needs to perform like them! Not "good for a mk3" or "good for a 5k redline" or whatever but just plain old jaw dropping fast or powerful, like the rest of the cars featured in the trailer.

I hear there will be a little mk3 drag action in the dvd... since there were only two racing.... thats all that will be on there.

Just what the word on the street is.

that was thomas's green 98 supra from new orleans area... he popped a tire off the wheel in the corner, and the rear quarter went into the wall

I have gone to a couple of the events and there are always a bunch of MK3's that show up but never participate. I think the best year was 2006 when there was about 15 MK3's drag racing in two different classes and at least 4 in the 11's and a bunch in the 12's and 13's. If a nice looking MK3 with a good paint job and interior and nice engine bay would run a 10, I bet that they would get a bunch of attention at a meet. But never seen a MK3 run better than 11's at a TX event.

Gixer, good job, I never got to go this year because my first gear took a dump, but keep at it and I hope that your build goes well.
