I failed TX emissions test other day. Here are the details:
I did the testing with two different fuel pressure settings.
Car: 1987 Turbo
Emission results with Fuel at 30 psig:
25 MPH testing
------------Standard ---- Reading
HC (ppm) 140 ----- 133
CO(%) 0.89 ----- 0.03
CO2 (%) none ----- 12.4
O2(%) none ------ 3.4
NOx(ppm) 984 ------ 2283 (Fail)
Dilution(%) > 6 ------ 12.4
15 MPH testing
------------Standard ---- Reading
HC (ppm) 144 ----- 169 (Fail)
CO(%) 0.81 ----- 0.15
CO2 (%) none ----- 13.9
O2(%) none ----- 1.5
NOx(ppm) 1077 ----- 2781 (Fail)
Dilution(%) > 6 14.1
-------------------------------------------------
Emission results with Fuel at 36 psig:
25 MPH testing
------------Standard ---- Reading
HC (ppm) 140 ----- 84
CO(%) 0.89 ----- 0.03
CO2 (%) none ----- 12.8
O2(%) none ----- 2.9
NOx(ppm) 984 ----- 1168 (Fail)
Dilution(%) > 6 ----- 12.8
15 MPH testing
------------Standard ---- Reading
HC (ppm) 144 ----- 208 (Fail)
CO(%) 0.81 ----- 0.68
CO2 (%) none ----- 13.8
O2(%) none ----- 1.0
NOx(ppm) 1077 ----- 2130 (Fail)
Dilution(%) > 6 ----- 14.5
Mods: AFPR, WB High Flow pump, K&N intake
RT 3" downpipe, RT High Flow Cat, 3" Cat back,
RC 550 injectors / Lexus AFM
Check Engine light is NOT ON. I assumed no codes..
The Random Technology (RT) catalyst is installed in 2003. I had issues with passing in the past due to hydrocarbons. I changed out the O2 sensor two years ago.
Never had teh NOx issues before. Could it be, my cat is bad?
I have the stock cat from the stock exhaust (second cat.. not the one on the downpipe). Should I swap the RT cat with stock and see if i can pass?
Or, I can put the stock injectors/AFM back on..
Or, just buy another new RT cat..
Any suggestions?
