So I was watching some of my buddies race, Evo, Suby, some others. I heard what I thought was the rev limiter on all the cars before they launched. They told me they all have a two step on their car and it's an awsome mod for turbo cars. They said it creates boost at the line for turbo cars.

So, how can I do this for my 87 turbo 5spd? Whats all needed?

I didn't know if it was different from car to car.

Thanks!

I just learned this today :D but basically rev-limiter to your prefered launch rpm, and antilag to get your car spooling before you launch by retarding the timing, using either your standalone with a built-in 2step or like a MSD ignition control

kills your turbo fast, but I dont know how fast.. i wanna know too

I don't care if it kills the turbo, that just means I get to upgrade :biglaugh:

Yea, I want to go the MSD ignition control route, seems easiest but I don't know how/what to do.

Two-steps and anti-lag are 2 different things.

A two step is a separate rev limiter that you set at the desired level where it will be most effective to launch, (i.e compromise between bogging and spinning) You don't "normally" build more than a couple psi on the 2 step (unless nitrous is used)

Anti-lag is usually used in standalone applications in which a separate timing map is used, and it will retard timing enough to cause igniting of the fuel in the exhaust manifold, thus creating more energy forced at the turbine wheel and drastically increasing spool characteristics, which also haqs a negative effect on turbo life...

Two-step can be done with a MSD box, anti-lag needs a ECU such as the AEM, MoTeC, Wolf, FAST, Big Stuff, etc....

do you know if the maft pro has a setting for this? and does it ruin anything else besides the turbo?

so to run a msd 2-step on an mk3 don't you need msd coils? Does anyone know the part numbers for the box and coils. and a 2-step doesn't hurt your turbo right?

IIRC, if you use the MSD DIS-4, it will work with the stock ECU/coils, and give you the 2-step feature. I have not personally tried this setup, so your best bet would be to run a quick search, because i believe i remember it being done successfully.

As far as the Maft-pro is concerned, i do not believe there is a 2-step feature built into it. Ive only done a couple basic setups on a few people's maft-pros, sand i do not recall any 2-step feature. Someone like dr.j or others with the maft-pro can answer 100%.
