mine are not in the best shape. Lots of smoke at idle.

my question: is it dangerous to drive with seals that are shot? Is there a chance of them going completely and dumping as much oil into my exhaust as it can?

Unfortunately I just sold my daily driver and won't be picking up my 57 trim for about two weeks. I'm already driving my car as little as possible (school only, walking to work)

Biggest dangers are 1) getting nailed by the EPA for the smoke 2) Running out of Oil and RKing the engine.

Great. Thanks Ian.

I have no issues checking oil often. It has not even made a dent on the dipstick thus far and i'll lay out a pretty dense smoke screen when I roll upto the light.

I'm getting my turbo upgraded very soon so it'll be a non-issue.

I come from a land down under
Could possibly be the engine breathing a bit harder due to worn rings.

Take the Oil cap off and hold your hand over it then bring the revs up and see if it's puffy (positive pressure).

I will do that next time I run out to the garage.

I highly doubt its a ring issue as my compression is 160 +/- a few points across the board and the engine only has 4K or so on it.

this smoke issue started when I zapped my other turbo and replaced it with this one.

I will check that though :)

hah, its true, not today. I go straight from school to work on Mondays.

You know it! I was actually just looking at a car for my g/f over by Costco and was like "Hey, a Supra!" Then was like "oh, it's only Justin's..." :sarcasm:

Your PCV system is relatively new isn't it?

Psh. Its only mine. Me and my pathetic paint. Should have stopped by, I was bored out of my skull.

My PCV system was stock for the first 3800 or so miles of the engine. Its a little different now but still in good shape.
