Ya Mamas house!
Sorry in advance because I know this is an age old question, but I suck at searching for anything on forums. I am trying to figure out how to install a turbo timer on my mkIII... I have a basic understanding I just need a diy type thing to help guide me in the rite direction. Is there anyone here who has done it that can help me out?

There is no need to apologize in advance. What type of turbo timer do you have? I had a HKS turbo timer, type-0 It came with the plug set, and if you do under your dash, beneath the steering wheel you will find the plug for it to connect into. You will have to unplug in and plug this in and then reconnect it. Then you have to run a ground wire power wire to accessory, and then a signal wire , which i ran to the E-brake, so when the e-brake is engaged it works correct. that is also your on off for it.

I stop running turbo timers after all the melting wire issues even with good grounds.

Why would you melt wires? When your car is running and you have power going down the road it's the same thing, so I guess I do not understand why you would say melting issues, when everything is a car is hooked up properly you will not have " melting issues.

Datsboi I would erase that before anyone else sees that..

hks type 0 but the only thing is that it has no harness or plug! Just a heap of wires where the connector was cut off. I baught it used

That is not good to hear you can buy the plug though that you will need. Where were the wires cut? Is there any type of plug on there already because if there is not the plug you will need will not be much help.

If you have the manual that comes with it, you may be able to find what wires plug into everything, but from the sounds of it, you will have to do extensive research to find out how to wire this thing up.

Nice picture, unfortunate for you this happen. I have had turbo timers on all my Supra's. All HKS and never had a problem. It looks like something didn't go so well with your harness there, and I am not saying it " can't " happen, the probability of it happening when wired correctly is just very low.

Hope we're at a understanding. :icon_surp

Not your fault. I would say a good 5% of owner with turbo timers goes through this. I too used HKS turbo timer and harness and this is the second time that it has happen to me AND my friends turbo 240. I do not see it happen on newer cars as much as I see with older cars. After my second time I figure I stop trying.. Rather sit in the car an extra 30 second with it on over seeing a car burn down from turbo timer melting. That or I might have landed on a set of cheap made in china quality.

Not trying to scare people, but it does happen.
