turbo through hood??

Ive seen pics of cars having the turbo stick out through the hood. I was wondering if the supras turbo stuck through the hood, would you be able to run with out an intercooler and have it blow right into the throttle body? I dont plan on doing this because I dont have a supra yet. Just curious if it could be done. I forget what mag i saw it in but there was a subaru that had the turbo in the front grill and it just fed straight to the trottle body without an intercooler. I think its a pretty cool idea.

The compressed air coming out of the compressor will still be hotter (regardless of the where the turbo is) than when there is an air to air intercooler. Probably not "so cool" idea for a street boosting/driving.

sure anything can be done. you would need one big turbo and some sort of adaptor to stack the turbo up that high.
it would totally ruin the best part of the supra though, the bodylines at the front! dont go raping a car to put turbos through the hood, it will look like shit!

They put the turbo trougth the hood to make sure they grab nioce cold air. Great for dragracing horrble on the street. Also I am pretty sure you just didn't see an air to air or water or some othe cooling method on that subaru. Subies don't take well to high intake air temps.
