I've looked all over the inter web for some cheap prices. Looking for a GT4088 with the 8X A/R housing. Some people said they found them for $805 on HPF but I can't find it any where.

Any clue?

I'm not sure how much I paid anymore, this was summer of last year. It was over a grand.

Plus they have a great no questions asked warranty.

If i had to do it all over again I would have just purchased a PT72GTS

over a grand is a little too spendy. I can get a ITS GT63 for $725, and was thinking that if the GT40-88 was better I could get it for a tiny bit more, but i guess not lol.

gt4082 can be bought directly from Precision with their undevided housing for $999, and it's a better match for a 7M engine then a gt4088. I really don't understand why the gt4088 is getting so much attention, look at the compressor maps and you'll see that the gt4082 is a better choice for most, unless your going with the gt4088R, but that is a LOT more money.

Aaron, didn't you say you could beat any one's prices on turbos??.. How much could you get the gt4082 for then? 1k is more than I am wanting to spend. Looking for something 200-300 dollars cheaper.

Most of the ones I see are these wierd names that people say to look on ebay for. Is there a reliable source for these? is every one buying used ones, or new for like 1k?

Holset is a good idea.
Who can argue with a ~$300 turbo that'll put you in your seat, and a smile on your face? oh wait... ;)

It'd hard not to cheap out. Especially as a broke ass college student. Not every thing can be diamonds and rubies. plus, how is ITS a cheap turbo?

preaching to the chior man! i got my car back in 03/04 when i was a soph. and built it up while attending classes and working my tail off. no debt owed on the car, no loans, nothing but cash outta my pocket to get it where it is. and worth every penny!

Not everything can be diamonds, but if your putting effort into a turbo upgrade, why get a shitty turbo and waste $$? Cheap out on ebay manifolds, oil lines, etc.. but at least get a good snail
