Turbo oil seals need replaced.

All things being equal,what would cause oil seal to blow? After no or low boost found a plugged cat on a well built 3" system. no smoke yet. Cut off exhaust at cat and ran with just a turn down that solved boost problem.But after driving a while started excessive smoking. (Son got ticket for excessive smoke) that was a year ago. car sat in garage. started right up but smoke and oil from exhaust. so it would appear that no back pressure so to speak was the culprit. its a 57 trim from driftmotion.
also any feedback on turbo oil/coolant line kit on ebay.

Turbos dont like "back pressure." They want a free flowing exhaust.

I didn't see your question until now due to some things being moved around on the forum.
Turbochargers do not have seals. They have miniature steel piston rings inside. They act more like dams then they do seals. To properly work, they must have pressure on one side (boost or exhaust pressure inside the housings) and vacuum or low pressure on the other (pcv vacuum system inside the bearing housing).
These "seals" fail due to carbon damage, over oiling, turbine imbalance, or improper pressure to vacuum ratio inside the bearing housing.
