here is the problem i am getting maybe like 1psi and my car idles low like 500-700 and kinda sounds like its struggling up and down. i have a stock supra with a ct26 57trim. i have a aftermarekt boost gauge but i donno if i isntalled it correctly i put it by the throttle body the two lines that go there not sure if its giving me accurate reading but yeah any advice would be great? i just installed the turbo and i checked most of the vaccums for leaks i am out of ideas.... could it be wastegate? how do u test a wastegate?

Surging idle and boost problems are almost always caused by a boost/vacuum leak. I'll give you 10:1 odds you have one and you just haven't found it yet.

It could be anywhere between the AFM and the intake manifold. Trace everything, double and triple check - you'll find it.

The port on the throttle body will not do for a boost gauge. try the ine that comes off the rear of the intake manifold near the brake booster line (the line for the stock boost gauge and heater vsv, cruse etc.)

(X2 SC) You are using stock ic lines correct? i had a similar issue when i put new lines on my turbo (for the oil) I had reinstalled the charge tube (from turbo to intercooler) and the clamp had sliced the hose on the backside facing the block, where i could not see it. Anyways, my car would not boost nor idle properly due big ass leak. Go through and check all ic pipes. Do you have any codes? Install a boost leak tester if all lines appear good.

Def re route the boost gauge to the port on the back of the intake, as suggested.

alright tightened up what i could find clamps wise and now car idles fine when warmed up at like 800-1000 but cold start will drop to like 500-700 but still no boost. how do i know if wastegate is working or stuck open?

could i be in limp mode?

The only way i can think of for checking wastegate would be to remove turbo elbow, to visibly see wastegate, and install psi pump to wg actuator and add psi, see where it opens at. Or push/pull rod see if it moves freely. If so actuator is bad.

I dont think limp mode applies to these cars, and i think you would have codes? Try spraying the engine around intake, injectors, and any vac line with carb clean. (avoid AFm completely with this can)

did you re route your boost gauge line?

hmmm i think i found the problem i took out my factory bpv and i can blow air into it and feel it on the other side so i assume my bpv is done and is whats causing my boost leak?

The factory BOV setup is a recirculated system. Both ends are connected to the intake - that's not your leak.

i tired to wiggle the wastgate rod and its stiff so i assume the wastgate is fine

Factory BOV's don't seal well because they are intended to recirc. They all leak to one degree or another.

alright i have replaced my bpv with the bosche and same thing but i do notice there is a hissing sound by egr area by the intake manifold. just wondering is there a vaccum diagram for under the intake manifold? and egr to test if its leaking?
