I just got my car back the other day and started it up today just to hear the beauty. I notice the Vac wernt that high. It sat around 15-20VAC rather the usually 30 right (I just think so because my solara was always Vac 30 at idle)? The only leak I found was the hose to the BOV was too big so air was leaking out of where the hose plugs into the BOV (The BOV still goes off like normal though so I am confuse)...

Well I also got to inspect my car future and notice the turbo was making a weird sound at idle.. Yes I know how a turbo sounds when it spoils but this was idle.. Its like a scratching like sound? that or a sound like its you tapping a thin piece of metal with your finger sound.. Or it also sounds like a rattling sound....

Is my turbo bad? Is it because I had loose hoses that the turbo had too much stress? Dam Fcuking last owner for not installing a turbo timer. :(

Check the shaft play of the turbo, side to side, in and out.

21-24 hg/in vacuum is about normal.

Im at work now and I am new at this turbo thing so I might have to ask my other friend to check it out for me and teach me then and there. If it was a supercharger I would know it right away but this is my first turbo car and dang its confusing.

Turbo doesnt make much sound until around 3K when it starts spoiling. Other then that it only really makes the sound when its at idle. The RPM does bounce but VERY slowly.

I can hear my turbo spinning at idle, but it doesn't make the sound that you are describing. Shaft play is how much the compressor wheel of the turbo moves. It needs to be very tight, like if you grabbed it and tried wiggling it gently, it should budge at all. If it will hit the sides of the compressor when you try, then that's probably what you are hearing and your turbo is trashed. Consult the TSRM for proper specs on the CT-26 turbo's shaft play.

No I am talking about the usual seeing 30 vac off my other car. Not the supra.

I have a Profec spec II, and it reads -71 to -99 at idle. What measurement is it reading in? It went to "0" when my vacuum hoses popped off, but I got them all fixed. Are those good readings?

your PBS2 has 2 units of measuring PSI, and Bar. in PSI (i've never run bar so not sure) it maxes out at -99 x10^-1 = -9.9 PSI. its not good for getting a vac at idle. which is exactly why I run another Boost gauge. that or swap it over to BAR and seee what readings ur getting.. above -9.9 PSI and its pretty accurate (i forget what it tops at but i have yet to hit it.. i know it goes past 20.0 PSI) I would just buy another gauge for vacuum. nothing expensive just something to get you vacuum at idle.

so the -9.9 is bad? Is that to much vac? I was under the impression that you want a good vacuum until you start boosting. I really confused now.:aigo: :1zhelp:
