currently im upgrading my ct26 to a holset he351. i am using the stock exhaust manifold with a ct to t3 flange with a 38mm wastegate port on the side. but when i was bolt it all up i cant put the compressor housing on because it hits the shock tower on the side. i was thinking of my options and one being to mill down the exhaust manifold on both sides, mill the t3 adapter on both sides, and mill the turbo exhaust inlet, which would probably bring the turbo closer to the engine by maybe an inch at most. I was also thinking about beating in the side of the shock tower or cutting a section out and welding in a bent section for the compressor housing to fit into, but those both sound like bad ideas. so does anyone have any suggestions? thanks

Get a T3 manifold?

Could angle mill both sides of the adaptor a touch and that may angle the turbo enough to clear?
(how close is it, pics would help)

i can take pics tomorrow but thats a good idea to mill it at an angle, but i dont know if it will be enough to clear the tower.

or i could modify the adapter to angle the turbo up more. i was thinking maybe cutting the adapter where it meets the ct26 flange and then inserting a wedge shape of metal and rewelding it together to clock the turbo up more like the attachment.

I would cut the flange off the spacer and if possible, cut some material out of the middle of the spacer so that it angles the turbo closer to the engine.

If you found someone that would weld cast iron you could cut the flanges off both and just weld the adapter straight to the manifold (seen it done with T04 flanges).

Not a lot of people like welding cast iron cause it's not fun...

well i ended up just cutting the ct flange off and welding it back on at an angle leaving a gap between 3 sides so i used some steel to weld in and make a box. it worked great but needs a little grinding on the inside to clean up welds and slag. here are some pics and it happened to give me like 1 1/2 inches of clerance so its all good now.

sorry for the shitty phone pics

Did you preheat it first?

i didn't pre heat it but before we welded we plasma cut it apart and it was still damn hot when we welded it. the ct flange is slightly warped tho, and i mean slightly, but a little mill time and it will be flat again.
