I ordered a stainless turbo elbow and 3" downpipe , and then a catback turbo D2 exhaust. All piping is perfect 3" except for the start of the downpipe.

The flange fits perfect, but the piping is only 2.5" up to just below the flexible tube.

I looked at several brands and they all seem to have this issue. Should i get my downpipe modded to full 3" or just leave the stock elbow on?

My HKS is the same way. I plan on using a custom made downpipe later on down the road so I just used it in junction with my 3in. Elbow. You won't have as much power as if you had a full 3in. like a BIC downpipe but the power lost is not much. Good luck with boost cut ;).

Most of the downpies are HKS copies, hence the crappy 2.5"

This is why most people go with a downpipe that replaces the elbow....

get naked & boost a supra
agree with poodles, get a dp with integrated elbow.
it sucks buying one part and then realizing you should have waited for the right part. so don't jump on the first thing you see, do some research first and get what you really want the first time. i say this because i have been through 3 exhausts, 2 dp's, and 2 ic's with pipes. also been through 4 boost controllers until i got the right one

I run the Meagan Downpipe that is made that way as well. On my stock motored car it was a great set up. So far I don't know what it is gonna be like with several mods.

About your fuel cut comment.......don't be fooled. You will still get fuel cut, it will just be further into boost. It will all depend on your tune.

Sounds like the HKS, I've got one laying around somewhere that I'm never going to be using...

2.5 up to the flex, but that's easily fixed by chopping it and doing a quick mod there or simply getting a BIC DP which I've never heard anyone complain about.
