i am looking to buy a new turbo for my car i was originaly going to get a garrett gt3582r but ht eplace where i am getting the rest of my stuff from cant get it. they suggested a precision sc61. they are both T4's and .68 A/R
but the garrett is dual ball bearing and the precision is only a single. i was just wondering how much of a diffrence their is between them and if it is worth it to find the garrett somewhere else. thanks for the help.

there is about $500 difference haha.

i love the 61's, and basically its like a non bb gt35r.

fyi, i currently have the 61 on sale for $749. you can get either a .58 or .68 a/r. and for the comp cover you can get an E (3" in, 2" out) or the S cover (4" in 2.5" out).

but, to decide on a turbo you need to consider:

how much you want to spend

what power you want on pump gas

what power you want on race gas

what spool characteristics you want

A "regular" 61mm turbo with a P-trim turbine wheel is not going to spool as fast as a GT35. If you go with the PT-61, get the smaller turbine wheel for faster spool; I guess they would classify them as O-trim wheels, although there web site says "To4".

if you arent worried about price then go with the gt35r.

matt- the small pt61 wheel is called the t-350. its bigger than an O, but smaller than a P

yep, i have those too. depending on the turbo, they are about the same price as the gt dbb tho. just pay attention to the specs. on certain turbos the dbb version is actually a different size than its journal bearing counterpart.

both turbos will respond well, but garrett did good things with their gt series. however, that is just me speaking from looking at dyno charts. i was looking into both turbos for a long time.

those are some good charts. how do you like your turbo, and what kind of performance does it put out? ex. pump gas power, race gas power, spool time... blah blah. would you recommend your turbo?
