yup, I've seen that with maft-pro. Also, if you're running a standalone, you can tune it with a laptop.Either that, or run a REALLY long cable to your PC ;)

Naw, but I was definately mounting it in the car to be able to use that function. I'm going the route of a complete car PC system, where the laptop will basically BE the headunit. All that will sit in the factory radio location is a 7" touchscreen direct linked to the laptop. The laptop then uses a converter to change from a 3.5mm headphone-out jack on the laptop, to RCA signals, which are then plugged into an external amp for the speakers. :)

Cool, I built one of those except I used microatx components, custom LCD interface, small form factor drives/ram, 90watt DC-DC power supply and lots of C programming. =) It also *just* fit in a single DIN.

Now that was a fun project.

Actually, you don't need a laptop to tune a MAFT Pro, but you do need it to do the software upgrades for it. It is also a necessity to use the TunerPro software which is pretty cool for graphing your runs and so forth. The MAFT Pro can be tuned using the handheld unit.

at first i thought the title read "turning through a laptop."

thoughts that came to mind:

holy shit, he'll crash.
maybe he's talking about setting the angle in the laptop.
maybe he's got the car wired with sensors so he can take readouts of the g's and turn angle.

now it all makes sense :)

Make sure you have someone local that can tune a maftpro. Lots of people are having trouble,

bwhwhahahahahaha!

i guess?

then again, how many people have trouble tuning in general? how many people will post if they are having NO problems vs. how many people post when they are having problems?

98% of the "problems" you read of are user based.
