So I've decided to purchase a 67mm turbo set up for my 7mgte and am wondering if there is ANY other tuning device besides the VPC to tune with. I don't want to spend the money on a AEM EMS or any other piggy back, is AEM EMS the only other option I have?

Is there anything like dsm link for these cars?

You want to spend money to tune a VPC but not other piggybacks? I guess I am not following. The best replacement that I see for the VPC is the MAFT-Pro. It is speed density like the VPC, but costs less and is more user friendly, from what I have read here. If you plan on big power, you really should reconsider the stand alone. Afterall, a piggyback is just that.

I don't want to resort to tuning with a VPC. Was just asking if there was anything like DSM link to that matter for the mk3? Just didnt want to fork over 1100+ for a AEM set up.

1100 for AEM?

The old HKS system was about $2500 in parts. The fuel computer PFC-FCON, graphic controller for fine tuning, GCC, vein pressure converter to speed density plus dyno time to tune. Not cheap. You can do much better than that on ebay these days for prices. Look up the MAFT-Pro.

I wouldn't waste my time and money on a Megasquirt or AEM. Although AEM is fairly decent, it definitely has some bugs. Take a look at ProEFI.

You sound like a salesman.

MS3 looks to be on par with pro efi.

Ok, let's answer some questions here...

- There is nothing like the DSM link for the Supra.
- There are, however, LOTS of other options.
- Some folks have done well with piggybacks - everything from the SAFC to the MAFT Pro, with a bunch of options in between.
- The VPC that you mention is an old piggyback technology from HKS. It's getting a little rare these days, mostly because things like the MAFT Pro outperform it on features and ease of use for a fraction of the cost.
- Full on standalone ECUs are the best performers as long as you're not concerned with cost - many companies offer these, although most are not Supra specific - AEM, Microtech, Motec, Vipec, to mention a few.

Personally, I would move to a proper standalone for anything over ~500hp. Sounds like you're aiming for above this mark.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. With my choice of going with a 67mm, looks like I'll probably be around the 500-600hp mark, so I'll look into the maft pro. If I don't like the results from that, I'll resort to the AEM EMS.

Question: If I decide to go with the MAFT PRO, what air flow meter is used? Lexus LS400 afm?

Maft-Pro elimnates the AFM and goes to a speed density setup using a MAP sensor.

gennro: Thanks, makes sense now. I was reading on the maft pro site, it says on here it keeps the air flow meter?

Speed Density Mode: Is the ultimate in bolt-on tuning mods! The Translator Pro performs a true speed density calculation to determine engine airflow, allowing the user to remove the MAF sensor and use a GM 3 or our 5 bar MAP sensor. Allowing tuning by RPM and boost, the Translator Pro is pre-configured with base maps for most popular applications to get the user up and running quickly, just select the base map, injector size, and go!

Ordered the MAFT PRO....now my new question is what injector size should I be going with to best suit this maft pro set up? Its a 67mm turbo that is looking to make about 550-600whp. Would some siemens 750cc injectors do the trick from Driftmotion? Or do I need to stay between the range of 680-720cc?

For our cars 1cc on a injectors is about 1hp. So if your shooting for 500hp you want about 650cc injectors because you only want to use about 80% of what the injector can flow.

my question is what is TOO big of an injector for the MAFT PRO set up. I was reading up on some information and people were saying 720cc is the largest you can run for tuneability? Is this true? I'm looking to run the siemens 750cc injectors
