just saw a few pictures of TSRMs for sale in the parts section and they look like one big book (90-92). these are similar to my gf's repair manual for her 87 mr2.

i was of the opinion that i had a TSRM but I've got four separate books, one for body/elec/specs, one for the engine, one for the chassis, and then a separate wiring diagram book.

seeing so many toyota manuals that are books about two inches thick, do i have a true tsrm?

Sounds like you got a legit set to me. Some Toyota models (like the Supra) got multiple books. Others (think Tercel) only got one and a wiring diagram.

Different release. My TSRM is all one book, and it's rather old. From what I was told it was later broken up into a couple smaller and more manageable volumes. IIRC, SupraRX7Nut's is broken up into two different volumes but the covers are pretty much the same as mine.

I'll bet the smaller volumes are a lot nicer to deal with than the massive phone book I've got.

smaller books help the pages stay open but mine still get oily fingerprints on them...

The problem with the single volume version is the spine would disintegrate pretty easily due to the weight and stress. A lot of people I've met with TSRMs for other cars who ended up attacking them with a three hole punch and dumping them a couple three ring binders... I'm not far from doing that with mine.

I have all four volumes (3 actually, the electrical wiring diagram is also found in the back of volume 3) for an '89. I bought them from Champion about 7 years ago for I think around $130. IMO the electrical wiring diagram is the must have of the bunch. Easier to read than printing out separate pages from the online tsrm and taping together.

There are general electrical wiring diagrams in the back of my TSRM, they're just not as in depth as the actual TEWD. I've got 3 books total, but the TSRM itself is all in one huge volume of it's own. I've got the TEWD, TSRM and the Supra Collision Repair Manual... or whatever it's called. All of mine are published by Toyota Motor Corporation, copyright 1994.

I called Toyota Publications the other day, and the 91 books are split. Engine, chasis/body/electrical (general), and the EWD.

Chris....did you get your tracking#?

It can get very confusing... add to this whole mess the fact that most dealerships carry other third party service manuals and you just don't know what you've ordered until it's in your hands. :(

Yep you have the right ones. TSRM I had a few years back was also 4 differnt books for 89 supra. But I sold them in 2003 :kickinthenuts: after I sold my last 89 . I needed beer money at the time.:naughty: But at least I didnt let them go for free. If I remember correctly I sold then for $175 on ebay.
Shit the factory repair manual I had on my NSX was like 6" thick. Everything in one book. That sucked looking throught it. Book was too thick and pages didn't stay open. Hell I sold that book for more then $300 also on ebay.

The book for my '88 (with a bright pink cover) covers everything you usually need. It looks a lot like the online one at cygnus. The wiring diagram in the back is probably 10 fold-out pages and is everything you need. It has ground locations, connector pin numbers, and so on. There's also a big electrical section that covers all the modules including how to test them.

I do believe it mentions the Collision Repair volume somewhere. My book has a few pages covering all the measurements you need to make to see if the body and frame are straight.

If I recall correctly, it was $65 from a Toyota dealer in 1992.

ps the manual for an '04 350Z is like $350 from a dealer for a paper copy. A CD full of PDFs is probably $250. Fortunately, you can download it from Nissan for $20 or find it elsewhere for free. I would've paid $150 for a nice paper copy, but $350 is rediculous.
