Just tell your friends you're quitting to get a better job. They'll understand. They will probably joke with you for a while if you're around them when their smoking and you're not but it'll be alright.

Or, you could do it the hard way and go out and get yourself a possession charge. You'll be on probation for a while with drug tests every month or sometimes every week. You'll quit smoking very fast..My friend who smoked everyday for 5+ years stopped real quick..He also got a good job to pay for probation.. Lol..i do not recommend this.

2) Become more active in your local supra community fuck sakes you live in Texas theres a shit load of supras there!

3) Same as number 2, once you become more active in the local supra community the more people you will meet and make new friends out of it...

And don't put up another post saying you want to move somewhere else to start over, and then say SOMEWHERE WHERE THE LAWS ON POT ARE NOT SO BAD!"(quote not exact, but quoted for effect)

I was happy to see you wanting to move and start over, until I saw you say that. I thought the moves purpose was to get away from the pot friends.

Man, quite a few of your bigger mechanic shops will drug test you these days. If you want to study the art of mechanicing, wouldn't you be disappointed if you couldn't keep a decent job even if you were a good mechanic. You'd be stuck working in a hole in the wall gas station for peanuts.

I'm gonna start checking this thread daily, and I want to see honest posts about you having smoke free days. Start with 1 day or two without. Then if you can't handle it, smoke one, and then get back to the smoke free days. Build them up each time, and don't get in the habit of going back. Do your damnedest to quit each time.

BTW...Alabama is a good state. No auto inspection, low cost of living, low population. But anywhere you go, you will have a basic set of laws that will always be there no matter where in this country you go.

Thanks for all the input guys, it really does help a lot!! This is day number 2, and damn, I'm about to go out for a few beers lol. Work was crazy, I nearly killed someone when the little car topper flew off while doing 70mph nearly hitting a jeep behind me. All in all im feeling fine i guess, just not knowing what to do with my time, im waiting on that dang egr cooler to come in the mail still lol. Id like to go smoke tomorrow, but I'd feel really guilty, and it will take even longer to pass a drug test. I need to quit for a long time, get my priorities straight and get my life together....maybe then, maybe...i'll smoke a joint hehe Im bi-polar fyi. addictive personality....

I used to smoke ALOT of pot. I now regret it ALOT. Being a pot smoker changed my life in way that I didnt always realize until much later in life. If there was two things I could go back and change in my life, it would be not smoking pot in the first place and not stealing the stuff I stole to get high which I got caught for and convicted of a felony and pretty much fucked up my life.

Im also Bi-polar, and there is legal medication for that, so Im not buying that excuse.

I used to drink a 12 pack of beer a day, and smoke a pack of cigarettes at the same time. It never did anything good for me, it was of course an escape mechanism. Two years ago when my wife asked for a divorce I quit both within a month. It was really quite easy and I'll tell you the secret to quitting...commitment.

Yeah I know, duh right? BUT, Most people have no idea how to commit to something. You need a good reason first, then set a date by which you will be completely free of the addiction. Give yourself enough time, but not so much that its easy to say "I will start trying tomorrow". This method allows you to be human and slip up, but sets a firm and hard timeline to rid yourself of the problem.

WILLPOWER! remind yourself why you are quitting when you feel weak. Keep at it. Eventually you will fill that lost time with something new and you wont even think about it anymore.

As the great Stuart Gilligan Griffen once said..."Whether you think you can, or you think you cant....you are right!"

Starting this thread was a great idea!!!! You now have a support group, and people to talk about it with. When the temptation gets hard, you can come here, and talk about it. You don't have to quit alone.

Man there are SO many people that smoke pot. You don't have to feel small about it. You are doing something about it. For that, you should be proud!

"why are you even quiting?"

because smoking pot is retarded thats why!

...and before you pot smokers get all up in arms or say "well I can function just fine", here is a thought. Maybe you think you function just fine...but how would YOU know? Think of how much MORE productive you would be without the habit.

Not to mention the waste of money, social stigma and bleak future. Time to grow up children.

to bastardize a line from one of my favorite movies:

"Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son" - Dean Wormer

It would be hard to "find yourself" behind a fog of intoxication, trust me, I know this. Keep working at it and dont be so down on yourself. What you are trying to do can only make you better.

I'm just trying to find who i am, and what im supposed to do.

You are only supposed to eat, sleep, and shit.

After that, it's up to you. You can choose anything You want to do. Commit yourself to the training, and see it through. If you apply yourself, you will succeed. If you don't apply yourself, it's a crap shoot, and you must rely on luck.

Keep smokin pot, and you will not apply yourself to anything that gets in the way of smokin the pot. It will limit your job opportunities, and you will waste away.

BTW......Congrats on 3 days!!! That's great to hear. Keep up the resistance!

thanks everyone. Tomorrow before work I'm going to dust off the guitars and restring them. It's about time for that lol. I used to be really good at it. Without anything to silence my mind, I have this urge to do some kind of art....

Years in a fog have made you grow stagnant. Cast off the shackles. Welcome to your new life.

Warning: Life is not easy, but don't let this discourage you.
