I'm stumped as to how to unscrew the tie rod from the steering rack. I've got the knuckle off, the tie rod end is dangling, its just the other end of the tie rod I've got to unscrew. I've got it to spin about a quarter of a turn, BUT, the steering component its screwed into seems to be rotating as well.

Anyone have some experience with this?

I'd also like to know if I can reuse my tie rod end...I will, unless someone is adamantly opposed to it and gives me some info lol.

It just screwed right out with some more coercing.

Then, I couldn't get the end and the tie rod to unscrew....tried JB Welding the ball joint so I could throw it in a vice and crank it out, but that didn't work. Then I saw the rusted remains of a hexagonal section on part of the tie rod, so I threw on a 15mm and cranked away and it came off.

Reusing the old one, screwed on to the same length as the old one. Going to pack up the dust cover with moly-lube or whatever I have in the garage and re-attach everything tonight.

Thank you to everyone who looked at this thread :p
