Alright i have a GTE that has a 87 head on it but a 89+ block. what wireing harness do i need to get or are they all the same? only reason i am posting is because of the difference in the block and head.

Doesn't matter that I can think of... the wiring harness doesn't connect to the head at all, and on the block the only things are the oil pressure sending unit and the knock sensors, all of which use the same connectors for all years IIRC.

the injectors clips for the 89+ are different then the pre89. The knock sensors are the same I think the vsv's are the same the cps is the same the coil packs are the same the 89+ egr has a sensor on it and the pre 89 dose not. Just get a pre 89 harness and pre 89 injectors. Also depends on what ecu you have.

It's easiest if the wiring harness, ECU and chassis harness are all the same. So if you've got an '89 car, then it's best if the wiring harness and ECU are also from an '89. The ECU and engine wiring harness must match, but they can be different from the chassis harness with relatively minor issues.

However, I have the wiring harness and ECU from an '87 in my '89 car, and there were very few issues. The ABS connector was different entirely, and the headlight relay needed to be re-wired.

It's in here somewhere, that there are 2 pins that need to be swapped at the place where the chassis harness plugs into the ECU.

I didn't know that at the time, and I cut the wire at the headlight relay and at the #1 integration relay, and ran a piece of 20 gauge wire between them, haven't had a problem since.
