Tremec TR-6060 (T56 Magnum).. Going to try it. Any coments. Interest....

The TKO uses single cone brass synchros that sit on a face that is machined directly on the gear. Just like the R154.

*The maximum shift RPM is 6500 as recommended by TTC. The transmission has heavy gears and it takes some effort to match the RPM. If it is forced it will break.

The T-56 initialy used single brass synchro that was sitting on face that locked in the gear. Much like the T45. The slight movement allowed the hub to lineup with the gear teeth easier. The early T-56 still had problems shifting above 6000.

*The Corvette/GTO got an update to triple cone and dual cone carbon fiber faced synchros. That made the transmission shift much easier. Durability is not that great from what I understand.

*Tremec updated the T56 and called it TR-6060. It incorporates many updates. The transmission uses different alloys for the internal components making them stronger. The gears have been widened for added toque capacity. The transmission has internal lubrication pump. There are some updates to the case and bearing and countershafts to increase torsional rigidity. Be careful with the OEM versions. They differ from the Magnum in torque capacity and design!!!

Broke my brand new TKO twice, last time I had it repaired and sold it to one of the guys here, damn good news they totally revised the design for the 6060, a few of the domestic guys here have had some noise issues but no breakages.

t56 was cable if I remember correctly, did they make a hydro clutch setup for the 6060?
Why not try and figure a way to use a domestic clutch, they are cheaper than the supra clutch.

I will be using 7.25" Quarter master dual or triple clutch... ~600 + the slave and master
setup.

Hey big yoggz - Putting a Tremec behind a 2JZ is really high on my list of things I would like to do. The cheapest new Getrag I can find is like $5400 minimum. My built 95' 2JZ NA-T is making right at 550 now without the 75 N2O shot or extra two 440cc injectors and when that is dialed in it is just a matter of time before the 5 spd breaks no matter how easy I launch. So I'm following this with great interest. The next jump is what to do about a LSD for this original NA car. Did yours come with the LSD or if not what is your plan to address that issue ? cd

If you are planing to get the T-56 call Quick Time inc before october and get the bellhousing ordered. Ross is only making one run of bellhousings.

Im using 4.30 LSD from N/A with the updated clutch pack but using the old 250kg spring breakaway torque was ~75lb and that chatters like a mofo... no one wheel peel though.... And the V6 solid spacer from Marlin Crawler.

Although I dont expect many issues as people have not reported frequent falitures. But if that starts breaking often I might go with 8.8 IRS from ford and see what I have to do to get it in there. The Supra pumpkins are relatevly cheap and it is not hard to find one even if it needs rebuild.

Hey IJ - What tranny are you running and what is the diff ratio please ? I like this Tremec install as it goes like this:
1st not as low as the V160/161 or W58 so little longer legged. Good.
2nd little lower than V160/161 and W58 which is already good so: Better
3rd little higher than V160/161 and W58 which is already awesome so even better.

4th if you ever get into 4th , 5th or 6th at 6000 rpm your going faster than I want to ;)

anyway, interesting to learn what you are running (ratios) and your experience with it. cd

I used to run a TKO Tremec with 4.11:1 gears, I changed to 3.5:1 and an Auto.

The V160 and the W58 have completely different gear ratios so I dont know exaclty how to answer your question...

The T-56 Magnum is offered in two gear ratio configurations.

2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00 .80, .63

and

2.97, 2.10, 1.46, 1.00, .74, .50

You can use 8" gear for toyota for the most part... .so there are lots of posibilities. if you want to just drop in a diff. you can choose from 3.73, 3.90, 4.3.

I will be running the 2.97 with 4.30 rear end and 26 tires. I might go higher on the diff.

I get little longer First. Second has higher torque, Third has higher torque. Fourth and Fifth are the same and Sixth is nice overdrive for the highway.

It would have been perfect if Fifth was .80 and Sixth was .63 but cant have it all... maybe later =)...

I dont plan on going 200 MPH =) and I got a 3.5" driveshaft just for that reason. most Alu are 3" for our cars. and teh TR6060 would have a shorter shaft...
