Transmission factory settings?

Do automatic transmissions for pre 89 supras come with valve body pressure regulators? i saw this guys build and it said it was set to the factory settings for smoother shifting. Rite now my transmission slips and after seeing this i mite not hav to rebuild the trans???

There are several valves that effect pressure, and they work with each other directly and in opposition. Your primary regulator valve is controlled by the throttle. That is the cable from the throttle body to the trans. You don't need full pressure all the time. At the lowest setting, it will not slip. You have another problem.

If you are slipping, check the fluid level when hot. Also insure you have Dexron 2 or 3. Or something better.

Ring and ask what his settings are :runaway:
(always had good luck with 340's+Toyota type4 anything else = bleah)

i hav changed the fluid before and put some stuff in there thats supposed to revitalize the seals or sumthing like that. i left that stuff in the tranny for about 3,000 miles. then when i changed the fluid i also replaced the filter. there was no change at all in the performance of the transmission. i would rather not go to any transmission shops mainly because i am 17 and dont hav that kind of money right now. how hard would it be for me to change these settings?

I was joking about "Transmission Factory".... ;)

Drop the pan and make sure the screen isn't blocked with crap, usually by the time they slip they're toast and it doesn't matter if you bump the pressure it won't help.

If its slipping the clutches are toast.. Time for a rebuild.. And if your turbo and getting on it, get rid of the stock cooler and get a BIG aftermarket one.. Thats the reason my first trans went

Once you get your new trans or that one rebuilt N/A or not run a aftermarket trans cooler.. The stock one doesn't to shit for cooling. The aftermarket ones are so cheap too, I got my 8 Row Hayden for 50.00 which will save me hundreds in the end.
