He suggests you do 25 "hail mary's" and 4 "our fathers" :p

I suggest you just lay rubber tracks until the sun goes down with the 9".

It's the accepting idea Ford (GM, Dodge, ect.) actually produced something bigger, better, stronger that a lot of people are afraid of. I'm not sure what it's like down in Australia, but here we (i.e. imports) have to fight tooth and nail to get accepted as anything other than a cheap econo box, especially by the domestic guys. Admitting that Ford produced a superior part, true or not, just gives the Domestic guy one more thing to try and rub in our face, and they do love to rub things in our face.

While the idea doesn’t bother me personally, probably because I used to tinker with mustangs, and would kill to combine the legendary robustness of the Ford 9" with the benefits of IRS. Combining the bests of import and domestic is a pill many people on both sides of the fence are not ready to swallow. There is still to much of a rift between the two sides for it to be accepted, but it's growing smaller and soon people will come around. Like it or not one cannot deny the benefits.

Yep, it is very narrow minded. And it affects both sides. You know how long it took the domestic guys to finally warm up to turbochargers. For the longest time they were bound and determined that the only way they were going to use force induction was through a supercharger or N2O. Turbochargers where things you ran on those little four bangers and grocery getting Volvo wagons, not on mighty V8. That mentality is slowly changing but it's still there. Even I was that way many moons ago, I cursed turbocharges and any thing ran by them, it even bothered me that diesels ran them. Though I knew it was necessary it just seemed wrong to mount a turbo to a domestic Ford Powerstroke. I had dreams of a Fox body 5.0 with a big blower sticking out the hood. But that was a long time ago, and you live you learn.

It’s just hard to brag about how much better you Toyota Supra is than your buddies Chevy Corvette when you have swapped in the same motor. :p

I come from a land down under
Way back in the early 80's I ran a I-6 with my worked 327/Muncie 4 speed Monaro and was shocked that he kept up until I really got serious!

We pulled over had a talk he popped the hood and it had a T04 on it!

Been a convert ever since!

^ lol good little story there, Ian!

IMO it's not a sin since, technically, it's not a Ford rear!
Plus, it's not like you dropped a 302 in it.... :icon_razz

I have some friends looking into the Ford 8.8 IFS diff for another application. There are a few cool things about them,
1. They came in tons of cars with tons of ratios
2. Many of the trucks that used the same gears and carrier had LSD.
3. They are very cheep in bone yards, cause they last forever, like $100 here in AZ
4. Came with a simple 5 bolt flange that would be easy to modify.
5. In all the trucks (with the 8.8 carrier) I have seen them in the Axles fail way before the diff gears.

Look for them in Thunderbird V8's and turbo coups, and Merkurs, rear IFS mustangs and several others, I cant remember at the moment. Probably even the new rear IFS Explorers and Nagivators, or ewhat ever they call em.

Kurt: LOL nope not at all there's not a single Ford Built part in it!

ARZ: It would have saved me some time but I figured I'd go for the strongest solution I could so I can forget about the Diff ;)
