are there any tricks to seperating the r154 from the 7mgte? i have the bell housing about an inch away from the block, but it doesnt seem to want to come any further. it rotates freely, but it feels like there is a spring holding it back. anyone know any tricks? also does any one have pics of the back of their instrument cluster?

Ahhh, yes, the shifter fork("clutch release finger") Mine was a huge PITA to get out. Been so long since i pulled it out I can't remember what I had done to remove it. I recall a big ass pry bar and a hammer. Yea mine was semi rusted and a little mushroomed at the bootom of the pin. so yea hope yours wasn't bunked like mine was.

k, i have the plates off the bell housing, and i am looking at the fork. but i cant get the bastard out, and im afraid of breaking anything. just to make sure. ive been trying to get off the two bolts that appear to be holding it on, right at the fulcrum of the fork. but theres no freakin way of getting them off without some sst. does anyone have any tricks, or am i just doing this wrong?
thanks for the help.

its just an e-clip holding on the pin on the fork. take off the3 service inspection plates (both) and use a small flathead screwdriver to take the e-clip off. then with a punch, tap out the retaining pin and viola! shifter fork is out! fyi- when you put it back together, just put the pin and e-clip back on the fork then snap it into the transmission...20 secs to do it!

yup, like TooGoode said there is an e-clip on one side of that rod holding it on.

You can't get it out with the rod in place but I swear I could put it back in with the rod in place. That doesn't make any sense.
