So i went to drain my tranny to replace the fluid with redline, and ended up horribly rounding off the bolt. i tried cutting a new face into it with a dremel and using an intense pair of vise grips on the new face, but nothing.

even before i touched it, it looked as if the metal of the bolt and the metal of the tranny casing had melded themselves together.

anybody have any suggestions short of drilling it out and re tapping it?

i also tried sucking the fluid out through the shifter hole. i got some, but not near enough

any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks guys

sounds like someone over tightened it....its a really large plug with a magnet inside...so if you rounded the hex then you HAVE to drill it out but you shouldnt need to retap if your good with a drill...id drill the center out then get a bolt extractor.

Use the dremel to cut into it so you can use a flat head screw driver to turn it? Maybe flathead with a pair of vise grips for leverage...
