you guys gotta listen to melbourne trance, hard style, its quality

tiesto and all that is fairy stuff compared to what you get down here :p

Banging, uplifting beats

cannot go wrong - Invest in some CDs from some of the stuff down here, you wont regret it - Melbourne is one of the top rave scenes in the world, not to mention the melbourne shuffle is recognised around the world. You go anywhere in England etc and do that, instantly know your aussie

^^^^ +1 Tiesto, Chokenfold, and all the other "fluffy" progressive dj's drove me away. Once I started deejaying I strayed from that stuff and went with UK acid trance artists like Chris Liberator, Dave the Drummer, Guy "The Geezer" McGaffer, ASYS, and Roland Klinkenberg among others.

Plus, coming from Detroit it's all about the techno, breaks, and house. You won't get booked if all you play is trance. The scene there is very techno purist. However, a great techno deejay with an arsenal of good tracks will never bore you. Especially if it's a live PA set.

Everybody's always dissing the higher DJ's like Tiesto, Van Dyk and Oakenfold. Why?

There music is for the most part fantastic. I love most of tiesto's stuff, especially the In search of sunrise series. Oakenfold is some good stuff to, and Paul Van Dyke is simply amazing.

Sure, i love Kyau vs. Albert, Kirsty Hawkshaw, underworld, and many other less popular artists, but Tiesto has helped out this scence exponentionally. No need to rag on there hard work!

I know Paul Van Dyke actually produces many tracks and he's very good. Oakenfold is a joke anymore. The last time I saw him live in Toronto at WEMF he would mix in a record and go talk to somebody then come back 4-5 minutes later, mix another track, and go back to talking. There was no showmanship, the track selection was predictable and fair to say the most, and when it comes to mixing he HAS NO SKILLS. And promoters were paying him close to $40K a gig at that time?! Anyone can do the same thing after a few months of practicing. Does Tiesto produce any of his own tracks? Deejays are a dime a dozen...I know, I am one. Track selection, creation, and innovation are what separates the herd. Progressive trance just hasn't grown IMO. If you enjoy it, great! I just prefer trance that is more innovative, less predictable, and doesn't get all froo froo fluffy :greddy:
