I have a set of Megans just installed and Im curious if anyone out there who is running adjustable coilovers can shed some light on what damper settings they use. The Megans have 32 different adjustments and they say that
1-8 is for track use (hardest)
9-16 is for mountain use
17-32 is for daily street use (softest)
What has everyone had success with? And if you arent familiar with the settings for this particular coilover, then maybe you can explain to me what the goal is at the track in reference to hardest vs. softest and front settings vs. rear settings.

I know Im new when it comes to suspension so any help is appreciated....
Thanks,
Brandon

I have the same coilovers, I "broke them in" on 10 then backed them back to 20. I would say your gonna have to adjust to taste, IIRC I read your supposed to adjust each side the same.

I have mine set soft (Buddy Club) thinking it'll help offset the high rates but haven't tried the stiff settings. Stiffer can increase feedback (feel) making them seem more planted but I don't think it's always the case. Also I'd really doubt the settings are equal corner to corner. Probably best to find what feels best for you, try to ignore the setting range so the placebo effect doesn't weigh in on your settings :)

Well right now I have all 4 set to 27 just for the ride on the streets, Im just curious on what the principal is at the track, whether it is better for the settings to be harder or softer?

Well it depends. It is all preference to your driving style. Just play with it every time you pit. Going up and down on the settings until you are comfortable with what you have it at. Typically for track you set it to the stiffer settings.

I have mine set at 23. I also have ST swaybars and Lipp traction arms. The setting will be detirmined by your driving style and what you are doing with it. I don't change the setting from the track, strip, or DD, I get used to the setting and know what to expect from it. Only change it if its not where you want it.

32-way adjustable is way too much, try changing 4 clicks at a time and just drive it around with different settings. There are too many variables for someone to be able to tell you what the "best" setting is.

no way to f'ing no. As no car is the same and specifically weight wise. So what works in one supra will feel like complete crap on another.

Going to have to test and try. No way around it.

No way to what, that a given setting is going to work for him? I wouldn't say it'll necessarily feel like crap, no shelf stuff is going to be but so good anyway since they're made for many applications, not specific to a chassis and of course not specific to a car.

To the OP, I've read before that unless you're using very high end (read $1500+ per corner shocks) the adjustments are usually not accurate, sometimes not even with the expensive stuff. Also some are reportedly not linear or scaled (as in changing to stiffer may really set the shock softer) I'd say change them to what feels best and if you like it, try to leave it there like suggested (assuming that the adjuster are not going to be accurate to set for street and then back to track)

FWIW, on mine (Buddy Club) I felt like setting 5 was softer than 3 (which is supposed to be the opposite) I've only used them for a couple events, haven't touched them since the first couple runs. I'll probably mess with them again now that I'm getting more used to the springs rates & ratio.
