This is sort of an intricate question so I'm going to give some info on what I have, what I want to do, then word it the best I can.

I have a jdm 7mgte engine I dropped in, my wiring harness+ecu+car are all 89 usdm.
I currently have a usdm tb with corresponding tps.

I want to install the jdm tb that the jdm engine came with in order to make a direct throttle link with a 22re cable.

Will the jdm tps(vertical prongs) that the jdm tb must have harmonize with my usdm ecu+harness?

Yes my tps's work I have checked them per tsrm... but my question is if the jdm tps will work with the usdm ecu.

I want to use my jdm tb and that requires the jdm vertical prong tps meaning they are not the same as the usdm ones(horizontal pronged). Meaning this may throw off the ecu when i switch to the jdm tb + tps.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about???

Are you referring to the actual pins within the inside of the plug? Or the orientation of the TPs itself as a whole?

Obviously the orientation isn't important at all other than correct adjustment relative to the TB it is mounted upon.

The pins match as long as it is jdm-jdm us-us. The orientation determines its functionality yeah. Obviously due to the pin difference the orientation will be way different after correct adjustment and my question is will this throw off my ecu or will it pick up the correct info from the tps regardless.

Now this change will be jdm tb+jdm tps from us tb+us tps all on a us ecu+harness.

Here a pic showing the difference. US setup on left, jdm on right with corresponding tps's. Blue tps(us), red(jdm).

it should work

all a tps is, is a potentiometer(yes just like a volume knob on a stereo)

If the pins are in the same order and the resistances are within spec as per the TSRM, it will work. Why wouldn't it?

Because I heard the tps has to match with the ecu from some people on SF. Like jdm tps-jdm ecu, us tps- us ecu.

I also don't see why it wouldn't work its just a measurement sensor.

There is prod yrs for them though which makes me a bit nervous since they will not match now.

Quoted from Jeff Lange on SF:
"early 89: 89452-28030 (changed up to 89452-20050)
later 89: 89452-14050

What's your production month?

Jeff"

The jdm tps that fits with the jdm tb is 89452-14050 and my ecu is early 89.
I'm dropping my engine in early next week so I'll find out then.

the ECU does not "know" what TPS you are using, it only reads a signal from it. If the signal is within the specified range for the particular ECU, it will be fine.

To clarify here, the only difference is the mounting tabs... a TPS with vertical mounting tabs will not work on a TB with horizontal mounting tabs and vice versa... as long as the TPS and TB mate up properly it's fine and the ECU will have no problem.

I think the use of the word "pins" threw some people off.

yeah my bad I didn't know how to describe it correctly but I tired my best

I'm actually removing the pulley on the jdm tb and putting it on my usdm one so i can keep all my vac lines now.

Exactly like this
http://www.supracarparts.com/info/?p=11

I had to drill the screws out that were on the actual part that opens and closes in the tb and messed up the threads a bit so I gotta repair that, I think i might have my machine shop do it because mine always come out sloppy.
